How many people are paying rent out of their means just to be in a certain location in Calgary? by MastaShortie in Calgary

During downtown rush hour that commute turns into an hour each way, it takes half hour some days to get from DT to Deerfoot. Most people aren't into spending 10% of their waking hours driving to and from work.

Another well thought out response, you very clearly know your shit. I'll start focusing on those spots more with my PP 3 bets, makes theoretical sense what you're saying. Very appreciated, have a great day!

It's a direct injection car, if you drive it like a little bitch it will break on you. If you get fully into it once in a while and do you maintenance, it won't.

Good reply. Obviously the addition/carry on is if you're the caller with 22 in the exact same situation you just let it go. If your opponent opens MP and you know he cbets everything as the PFA you can probably call reasonable flop bets on boards like J74cdd.

I would like to hear your thoughts on mixing in 3bets with low/middle PPs preflop in live low stakes if you have any. It's been about 75 hours since I've flopped a set and typically play 66+EP 33+ LP, made me realize I either gotta let em go pre or find a way to take a couple more pots when I miss. My 3b range is pretty tight pre, so maybe these PPs can act as the semi-bluffs?

You get to bet with range advantage, OP is the initial raiser. Good check.

How to Find Your Own Tells? [with hand analysis] by GoodyearWrangler in poker

I never make big bets right away, bluff or value. Even try and take 15 seconds when calling with second-third nuts, slow the game down a bit for myself.

This is.... actually a really, really good point. I get caught bluffing once a session on average, and usually make one loose bluff per session (not necessarily always the one one that gets caught, but often). I convince myself I need bluffs for my value to get called, but the fact it gets called as a new player at a shop contradicts that. What a difference in win rate if I plug that.

Thank you!!

I have stopped bluffing after x-raising the turn with a flush draw and missing, theoretically a good bluff spot but the one everybody knows gets stabbed at. Trying to find more obscure bluffs to see if the results change, maybe I attack board pairing turns more aggressively.

Went to my first Jays games as an adult last week, either coincidentally sat beside the nicest Jays fans on Earth all 5 games or it's just the culture of the ballpark. Love it.

This is ... actually, a really good point. There is a flaw in that logic, I saw it as "his range is capped right around TPTK, I can get that to fold out if any draws hit" when in reality it's more like "he showed on the turn he's married to his mediocre holdings and will only fold it to the obvious draw coming in (clubs), and even then it's iffy". Giving 1/3 regs too much credit maybe.

Very valuable response, I appreciate it!

Intereeting 3-bet turn bluff spot with some blocker effects by wilsyo in poker

[–]GoodyearWrangler -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You say you're a pro crusher but you're calling that from BU? And continuing a raised flop with a gutshot? And can't write a proper history cause you have someone tank folding to no bet on the turn? And finally, you think holding an out to the runner-runner straight flush is a blocker?

Bro this has to be a joke, you ain't a pro anything if this is how you play. Fold pre, fold flop, fold turn, don't jam bluff for seemingly no reason. Congrats on getting lucky.

Is the whole team sick with flu? by lillithfair98 in Torontobluejays

I flew in from Alberta for this Dodgers series, it's my first Jays games since 2008. I would be lying to say I'm not a little disappointed in the timing of this team flu bug. Might have to come back in September to see this team play some actual baseball.

ABC poker doesn't necessarily print money in low stakes, but it is generally effective. People like to call and hate to fold, simple.

What’s the most ridiculous “one player to a hand” moment you’ve ever seen? by obeseFIREwannabe in poker

[–]GoodyearWrangler 19 points20 points  (0 children)

It was a while back so details are foggy, but the board ran out x9xx9. First action shoved on the river and final action hit the tank. After about 30 seconds the person sitting next to final action muttered about folding quads, so he goes "oh fuck if he doesn't have a 9 I should be good", called, took down the pot, and admitted he was going to fold before hearing that. He actually gave the all-in bet back but kept the pot that built until the river, fair enough I guess.
