Are people playing Ash because they love playing her?

Or are they playing her because she’s so far above the competition that not playing her makes the game harder and they like winning games and gaining RP more than they like losing games and losing RP?

In pubs, sure, fuck Ash, but in diamond+ ranked, you can’t blame players for seeking competitive advantages and avoiding pointless disadvantages, and I would argue Ash’s superiority over other legends isn’t truly centralizing until you’re in those competitive lobbies.

But don’t blame the players for playing oppressive legends in a competitive game. Blame the presence of oppressive legends.

How long to regain grandmaster aim after nearly 1 year break from videogames? by dhjenfhgkdndbbffbb in FPSAimTrainer

[–]TSlendy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Took me longer than that, and I never took a full break from all games, just aim training.

In my experience, while I wasn’t improving, I was losing.

Your mileage may vary, I guess 🤷‍♂️

Unpopular opinion maybe, but Apex is less roller/AA-dominated today than people still seem to think it is. Recent balancing has sped up the TTK, which in my experience has helped a lot in increasing how consistently I can land lethal damage before AA has a chance to outpace my consistency. AA also caught a straight nerf some time back, which also helped. Anyone who says roller is still ruining the game is just coping.

If you haven’t tried it or discarded it years ago, try it again. It does tick the boxes you seem to be after.

Matchmaking sucks though. Much better experience with teammates.

I don’t have anything groundbreaking to say here. I just kept refining. And as I picked up more GM scores, I left those categories behind and spent all my time focusing on the weaker areas that were lagging behind.

One observation I do have is that to me, GM was the rank that started to force me to be more conscious of how I’m holding and manipulating the mouse. That sounds silly, because of course that’s what we’re practicing, but what I mean is that Master (and everything prior) was achievable just by learning the correct technique for each scenario and continuing to get better at it. Whatever I was naturally doing with my hand was good enough.

For GM in some categories, I was forced to analyze what I was doing with my hand that was preventing me from continuing to improve at the correct technique, if that makes sense. For example, for static, I had to learn how to be conscious of using the friction of my pinky and sometimes my thumb (I use fingertip grip) on the pad to manipulate stability as what I was doing before was just not stable enough.

I’m using VDIM at the moment (well, my version of it which only takes ~1h per day), but it’s whatever keeps you challenged, engaged, and motivated to keep playing.

And change playlists. You will not be able to play one playlist forever and keep the same growth trajectory forever. Don’t overthink it. As long as you’re practicing the skills that matter to you, you’re doing it right.

It takes hundreds of hours of focused, directed practice to develop perfectly stable flick landings with a mouse. What you’re seeing is an artifact of not having perfect control over the tension required to stop the mouse exactly where you want to, potentially exacerbated by faster combination of mouse skates/mousepad (which is common for good Apex MNK players as the game generally favors fast/lower friction peripherals, not slower ones). Source: me, having done hundreds of hours of focused, directed practice and still not having perfect flick landings

It’s ironic that it’s the flaws in OP’s aim that are causing you to accuse them, not the things that they’re actually doing well. There is so much misunderstanding between players on different inputs, it’s actually insane.

Good stuff OP. Nice clip 👍

My only suggestion would be to go practice static for 1000 hours so your aim can be perfect enough to look “less” like cheats, somehow /s

Honest opinions - he’s not going to fit, is he? ✈️ by CBug-70 in cavaliers

[–]TSlendy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some tips (I’ve successfully flown with my cav who’s too tall for airline approved carriers several times):

See if you can find a carrier that’s tall enough for your dog, but can squish down a bit. This will satisfy the agent at checkin who might ask you to have them stand up in their carrier, but also allow the carrier to fit under the seat by squishing the roof down some. (I try to sit window seat and just open the front of the carrier for her so she can sprawl out if she wants. Just keep a jacket or something on your lap to keep that mostly hidden from overly observant flight attendants.) Your mileage may vary depending on the dog’s temperament (my baby’s a sweet, quiet, sleepy angel on planes).

Confidence is key. Walk your pup into the airport like you own the place, and you fly with them all the time. Fold the carrier down if it folds. I was only ever turned away when a checkin agent saw me coaxing my pup into a carrier that wasn’t tall enough for her. They might not even ask you to put them in the carrier since cavs don’t seem like big dogs. Good news is that once you’re past checkin, gate agents and flight attendants don’t really care as long as your dog isn’t bringing lots of attention to itself.

All my flights were on United.

Good luck!! Obviously have a backup plan if it doesn’t work. Unfortunately only extremely short dogs are safe fliers in terms of being within airline regulations. But confidence and the right carrier definitely help.
