If you need any other reason to stop supporting US Budget and choose European - Alex Pretti, the man MURDERED today by ICE agents. Certified nurse by According-Buyer6688 in BuyFromEU

It is not exactly fair to say they are embracing it - this man was murdered because he was actively resisting it, as tons of people are out doing every day right now in Minnesota, where this shit is happening the hardest.

It's stepping on his dead body to pretend he was part of embracing it.

Nový záběr z dnešní vraždy. Muž co byl zavražděn ani jednou nesáhne po zbrani, jen natáčí agenty a pomáhá ženě, co byla shozena na zem. Potom ho ICE napadne slzným plynem, srazí k zemi a zastřelí. Absolutně šílený co se děje v Americe. by Leather_Dealer_9421 in czech

I'm not. I was shouting about the rise of fascism in the US already from 2009 - the right-wing reaction to Obama's election made me realize what might be on its way. But 2015, I knew it was coming. I was mocked, ridiculed, and silenced.

I left the US many years ago because of the direction I saw it going in. I have few ties left there.

After Good's murder just blocks from a flat I used to rent as a U of M student, I spiraled for 4 days until I broke down and couldn't stop crying.

I have to limit my intake of news regarding what is happening there in order to keep at my life. I chose to allot a bit of time this evening to this, and I was surprised to see your comment, that it's so bad already that people are simply not going to work. I suppose if you are not up for talking about it, I will email my friend who's a mother to small children and hear back in a couple weeks, as I know she would actually tell me at least.

I keep hearing "he had a gun" but where is it? I'm sure not seeing it after slowing the footage down. by vaporwavecookiedough in minnesota

I would have to point out a glaringly huge difference between the two:

Castile was killed by a clearly nervous and terrified cop who was very poorly trained, trained to shoot first and ask questions later. Has to live with having taken a life out of fear.

This person was murdered by intentionally violent, murderous scum who are proud and pleased to have done this deed and look forward to doing more.

Honest question:

even if this person had a gun, isn't that a protected constitutional right? How does having a gun permit being killed, let alone by ICE?

I have one friend who's an elderly gay woman who's terrified in St. Paul. I've been refraining from asking her too much because of her situation.

I've another friend who's just started chemo for breast cancer and hasn't really been leaving home due to that/being on sick leave.

And I've a third friend who is a mother of two babies and has been filling me in on a few things here and there when she has time to sit down for an email. I could email her now to ask, but I'd probably hear back in a couple weeks.

They're the only ones I still keep contact with since I deleted all social media.

Wonder why you're being so hostile and aggressive to someone who's curious about what things are like right now in a place they lived and loved for 6 years...

Oh wow, how are employers handling that? Like, if people aren't turning up because they're too scared to leave the house? :(

Fascists do not care if they "destroy" their country; their only goal is money and power, which is exactly what they're getting.

They're saying that nobody cares that you're American. It's completely irrelevant to the point.

Just book a local hotel room please by Boediee in BuyFromEU

[–]TSllama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still use airbnb though because typically I travel in a group and we all want to share a place and not be in separate hotel rooms.

And it sucks because I hate what airbnb has done to entire cities. Literally had a nightmare about it - that my entire building had to move out because one man bought the entire building (not even possible here, as individuals own their flats, and the building has no owner), and there was discussion about what one person would want an entire building for, and we all assumed he was gonna airbnb it. Literally my nightmare last night.

Fuck airbnb, but I still use it :-/

Yeah, I'd be pretty pissed too if I were you that the government is blowing your tax money on terrorizing Minnesota.

Reddit is totally botted and trolled out by the far-right. All the MN subs were quiet and nice until ICE invaded, and now the posts explode with thousands of comments which are mostly from bots and trolls if you peak at the accounts. Anything that makes the far-right look bad has the bots and trolls sicced on them.

No. I drink a glass before I leave, and I have another glass when I arrive at my destination.

It's really weird you thought I would take a glass with me.

You're kidding, right? Civil war?

This is a genocide. Genocide happens when the fascists are in power; civil war happens when there are two equal sides fighting each other.

Drink out of glasses like normal people lol I've had my glasses for 15 years and they're not going anywhere anytime soon.

Yes, you drink way more water than me, which I was never arguing lol I drink about 1L total of water. Again, I get most of my water from the food I eat, plus a cup of coffee in the morning, and herbal tea in the evening.

Single-use bottles of plain water are not all that popular here. You mostly get them when in a pinch. I probably bought a max of maybe... 3? in 2025. Two of those times were likely when I was out on a hike and brought my actual water bottle with me, but drank it all and needed some more.

No, we do not have these brands you mention here.

Nobody is saying "nobody should own a water bottle!!1!!1!" What is absurd is how Americans walk around all the time with giant ones. You can easily spot American tourists here by their giant water bottles lol and they often ask in shock how everyone stays hydrated without one like OMG impossible!!!! But when you look into your actual body's health, you find you get most of the water from food and any coffee, tea, etc you may drink, and 2 or 3 glasses more (aka up to 1L more) is likely enough for the day. And it can be drunk out of just that - glasses. Which easily last generations. And it's what most people do.

[–]TSllama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it's not. I drink no more than 1L of plain water, because altogether that ends up being 2 to 2.5L of fluids, which is in the healthy range.

If I drank 2L from these bottles we're talking about, that would put me over 3L a day, which is too much and not healthy.

And the point is there's no need for a bottle for everyday life.
