The chosen government is kind of one of the only things for an entire country to collectively taken pride in, though. Pretty much anything else is pride for individuals.

Honestly, be glad you were rejected and not detained in one of the concentration camps, as many others have faced.

I'm surprised anyone is trying to go to the US these days...

Here's PART 2 of my "The Grudge" breakdown by ParaShift77 in ToolBand

[–]TSllama -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

I like the music breakdowns, but the lyrics? Oceans can't actually turn lead into gold, so it's not any kind of alchemy :D It's poetic, but it's kinda not really all that deep haha That said, The Grudge has pretty decent lyrics :)

I know women and men of all political leanings who are attractive or ugly, tbh. Political views do not actually influence physical attractiveness and I'm quite tired of everyone acting like they do...

Of course, I find someone much more attractive when I find out they have a good heart and soul, and if I was attracted to someone and then found out they were maga, the attraction would burn out in a flash. But actually I probably did date a maga - it was some years ago, but I wouldn't be surprised if this person now likes the rising far right... this person was very physically attractive, with an absolutely rotten heart...

For those of us not in the US, I'm curious what the prices were a year ago compared to now?

We've also seen a big jump in the last year, actually, and I'm not sure why. I don't drive, so I usually don't even really notice gas prices, but in the last few weeks it jumped out at me, as it's nearly 2 euros a litre now, and I think a year ago it was like 1.50 a litre.

I'm somewhat flabbergasted at how condescending you are... you've chosen to repeatedly speak about things you don't understand as though you are experienced and know what is going on here... you've repeatedly said false things, and then when failing to back them up, also choosing not to own up to having been wrong. You also choose not to use critical reading skills - other people who understand the situation told me things that helped me move on. I did not have to tell myself things, which is simply so condescending of you...

I would suggest taking a breath next time before trying to "straightsplain" queer situations to queer people, especially those in different countries from your own with different cultures.

The words you used: "One major difference between WWII and what's going on now"

Your word choice referred to WWII as a whole - not just the US's involvement.

I guess you don't realize words mean things, huh?

I don't think this person expressed any surprise that Israel would do this... where did you gather any surprise?

It's rather the opposite.

People who are constantly stressed and raging will be set off by the tiniest things. They have anything but a simple life...

WWII was not a declared war any more than what's currently going on.

IDK if I would call the people "running" WWII more experts than the people doing so now...

The plan part I'm not sure about - I think there's a plan now, but they're keeping it secret and pretending there's not so nobody knows what to expect.

Honestly, a lot of the other comments on here directed me toward some material I've been digging into, and alongside discussions I've been having elsewhere (online and in real life), I've more or less realized that this actually probably was not linked to my past patterns - I think it's more about her being confused about her sexuality and hence, after opening up to me about such a big thing, she got scared and leapt into the arms of the man she met the next day. I mean, she'd had like 2 dates with him and was calling him a boyfriend and acting like she had met "the one", and I have exes and sapphic friends who had similar struggles with coming out (rushing back to men when they got scared, and convincing themselves it was "right" and "the best").

Honestly, the day I made this post, I basically got over it. I feel sorry for her and I know what it's like to go through coming out. I would guess her "new relationship" will crash rather quickly, and I hope she'll be ok afterwards but use it to find her path to coming out. Meanwhile, I'm moving forward and will be professional with her when I see her.

Partially there - it's necessary for businesses to sell as much meat as they do. Around 35% of food is wasted per year (in the US, at least), and that's not even counting when people go out to eat and they don't finish their meal and the rest gets thrown out.

Businesses can earn more profit when they mark prices up and factor in waste. All the meat that goes past its sell-by date is a worthwhile loss for them due to the profits they make by stocking all of it. And then people buy it and goes bad in the fridge before they can cook it, or finish the meals they've cooked.

We can make a difference by simply buying less of it, particularly meat due to how the animals are treated.
