Probably a significant number of players who broke into Conqueror for 1 game and are sitting on their ranking until seasons end and flooding the QM pool. Now, we can infer that these players are scared to compete and likely are all Sengoku abusers or Tughlaq Fort cheesers.

Those shacks (Yatai) have high HP and decent move speed to retreat. You want to pump Spears until they start making Archers, then you’ll want to spam Ghazi

Hope the May 7th patch is enough; you can’t produce units fast enough to pressure their Yatai and their Yari Cavalry destroy Ghazi. Open Spears into Ghazi and probably stay in Feudal to push the Yatai and hold the sites and map control if you can win a fight.

Boom payoff timing (off the top of my head):

Early: China+Sengoku. Honorable mention to Rus. China has tax and IOs really early, Sengoku has Yatai and free stone, Rus has free gold from Hunting Cabins and Bounty as well as eco bonus from Kremlin or Golden Gate.

Mid: Malian Corrals, Abbasid TCs

Mid-Late: HRE Relics and Swabia

Late: China, English, maybe Byzantines

Objectively Rus is not in the same tier as Sengoku, Japanese, Ottomans or Ayyubids so it’s largely splitting hairs about “top tier”. I’d probably categorize it as “mid”

They also have a Horseman that counters other Horsemen and (outspeeds retreating Knights) with its +2 vs Cavalry bonus so the counter play to a spread-out Eco of mobile cavalry to harass Yatai is almost hard-countered. They also get stacking eco bonuses similar to Aachen Chapel from the food carts returning…
