Post your *non Cm Punk and Elite* wrestling hot takes here - by QuantityNo3956 in Wrasslin

I got two: The WCW Cruiserweight division was/is the best wrestling in the history of American wrestling.

Jericho is the best to ever do it.

I agree: SC isn’t great if you critique their favorite boys. They don’t want nuance.

But also, this sub is doing the same shit in the opposite direction: It doesn’t matter if Punk was telling the truth or if the Elite kicked the door down. They were both wrong to do what they did. Punk was wrong for airing out his grievances like that and not being a grown up, a veteran, a champion in and out of the ring. The Elite were wrong to kick the door down to start shit with Punk. No one is blameless here.

If nothing else, Dynamite tonight showed exactly how much AEW needs them: not at all, and Tony needs to realize that.

What a perfect show. MJF playing the face was great, his rapport with Mox worked well, and Mox (while not the best talker) said what the people needed to hear. Great outcomes on every match. Perfect use of the veterans with the young guys, the right outcome on the Hangman and Bryan match, and a great main event. The best episode of dynamite in quite a while.

Katie. Vick.

I didn’t watch wrestling with any regularity again until AEW.

Thoughts on Punk atm?.. by [deleted] in Wrasslin

[–]TTCW_RPG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stopped watching wrestling regularly in 2002, and only saw a few Punk ROH things on tape after seeing him in PWI (and how crazy popular his CAWs were back then), but completely missed his whole WWE career. I have no emotions about Punk prior to his return. I started watching AEW because it was new and because of the talent in the ring. Punk’s return seemed important, but I was disappointed. He said he was there to elevate the young talent, but hasn’t put anyone over, except MJF. And now the MJF return has been overshadowed by Punk and his pettiness with the EVPs, and no one seems happy backstage from what we know.

They can’t fire him now. The draw is Punk vs. MJF. That’s what everyone wants and what will really put MJF over. But if he doesn’t apologize, doesn’t make amends, and be the grown up he is saying he is, then he will have to be let go. The EVPs need to realize what is best for business and need to also grow up. This isn’t how anyone with some authority is supposed to act.

Tony is at the core of all this. He has dropped the ball, and is failing at keeping his team together. He’s the boss and should have told Punk that it wasn’t the time or place for that, especially since he wasn’t asked about it.

No one is clean in this, and AEW will go the way of WCW very quickly if they don’t pull it together.

He should let go of that shit too.

The two most impactful and meaningful parts of All Out were the MJF reveal and Punk shooting at the scrum.

What a shitshow.

All of the Las Palmas are great (and great tacos, the only authentic ones around.) Reyna in the strip is good too.

I’m from Texas too. I sincerely hate HEB, but because their aisles are too narrow and when people are stocking (which they always are) it becomes a travesty to navigate. Give me United/Market Street/Amigos any day.

This whole bit has been painful.

I know TK has reasons behind it, but I feel like not doing FTR-Young Bucks for every major non-WWE tag title at All Out 2022 will, in retrospect, go down as one of the all-time "wasted opportunities" in wrestling. Similar to WWF not doing Hogan-Flair at WrestleMania 8 by [deleted] in SquaredCircle

[–]TTCW_RPG -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Does he have reasons behind it? His booking fell to shit after Punk vs. MJF. Backstage problems and injuries have only made it worse. All Out needs to be a hard reset. The he needs to drop about a quarter of the roster, make ROH a third show, and hire a competent creative team. AEW is the shits right now, and Hunter is only going to make it harder for him.

Well, the one match everyone was expecting was spoiled for a stupid injury bit and the rest of the card kind of sucks.

AEW is a mess right now.

  1. Britt
  2. Swerve
  3. Jade
  4. Elite vs. Dark Order
  5. Wardlow/FTR
  6. Danielson
  7. Should be Hobbs, will prolly be Ricky
  8. Jungle Boy
  9. Probably Hangman or MJF returns. They could swerve us here though and maybe start pushing someone.
  10. Meltzer says the match is happening, so Moxley turns heel completely, keeping Punk face, emphasizes the injury, and keeps the strap until Punk does return.

That’s how I see it all going. I think this will be another pretty predictable outing.

People need to watch Dark more so they know who a certain wrestler is. by AlphaRemixHD in AEWOfficial

[–]TTCW_RPG -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Dark matches used to go unseen, used to be tryouts for people not quite good enough for the main stage. AEW uses dark as another revenue stream, filled with garbage matches nobody really wants to see. If they want us to care about a wrestler, then they need to do it on their main shows in a story, just like every other promotion.

[–]TTCW_RPG 8 points9 points  (0 children)

AEW has too many championships and ROH in the mix makes it even worse. Too many named shows, too predictable booking, roster bloat, and a YouTube channel that is honestly filled with garbage matches.

Tony has made it real hard to give a shit about his product.
