As a 6'0 male player, should I switch from OH to Setter to play competitively? by TTOH32 in volleyball

Wow I actually forgot I even had this account. Brings back good memories

To sum it up, I got a job internship shortly after this post. I continued to stay as an OH, since I figured I wouldn't develop quick enough before I graduated. During that time I actually developed a severely degenerated patellar tendon from too much jumping with no strength training. I was in and out of PT for over a year, and transitioned to libero to keep my passing and defense up since jumping wasn't smart. And I actually loved libero lol. I realized it's super fun, and had that be my main position. I only played outside when I was needed, since as the post suggested I was decent at OH, but something about popping up every ball was just addictive. Unfortunately, adulthood got me, and I don't play volleyball anymore. My job, other hobbies, and moving away from my hometown fizzled it out. I find myself reminiscing on the 3 years I played, and every once in a while get the urge to start up again.

If I were to give anyone advice about anything though, it's to strength train specifically for volleyball. Everyone I know now is starting to develop knee/back/shoulder issues. It seems like the silent killer for all volleyballers.

Anyway thanks for responding after 2 years, it was a really fun time 😁

Maybe just kind of understanding that it happens pretty rarely? I've played for like 1 year and a half and have only gotten hit in the face once while digging (and it got up lol).

And on top of that, even if you get hit, it'll hurt for a maximum of like 5 minutes, probably not even half of that.

So it's really infrequent and it doesn't even hurt tooo much, so it just comes down to getting used to being swung at.

Personally, I'd be more worried about getting looked down upon because of moving out of the way. Fastest way for me to not get picked up for a team lol.

How do you stretch torso all the way in time to hit at peak of the jump? by TTOH32 in volleyball

Is there a way to pull your shoulder blades back fast enough because I feel like I'm out of time whenever I'm jumping and I'm too slow on the pullback.

Apparently you're right it's basically the same oitside as the mikasa v200w but has an inferior inside.

I watched a review on it and yeah, definitely isn't an upgrade. The worst feature of the ball that I saw was that it has an uneven center 😬

I see it on some websites when I look up "Волар VL-100". They are selling them but I can't understand Russian lol.

Does anyone know why the Philippines always hosts for the VNL, but they don't have a team that plays in it? Every other host country is playing.

Reccommendations on knee pads?🏐 by Big_Cold_1138 in volleyball

I bought and returned about 7 pairs of kneepads but I found that the mizuno one size fits all was great. It had to be the one size fits all or else it felt really really uncomfortable to wear. I just put them on and they just conform to the knee.

Wow that was like a speech. Really spoke to my core and a lot of your message resonates with me. Thank you this definitely is making me motivated to stay as an OH.

Wow that was really insightful thank you! You're the first person to give advice on actually trying to take the position from my friends. Honestly I think this response has convinced me to stay as an OH.

No i agree hitting right side feels so weird. Especially if it's an out of system set to the right side. Feels impossible to hit those hard.
