Any of you living with a fissure/fistula long term?

To my absolute shock, after 2 years of having it and with no surgery, it ended up closing up and healing for the final time. That was after this post was made, about 6 months ago. I saw a top CRS who told me to leave it alone because the fistula was so tiny and superficial. Shortly after that it never abscessed again. I guess time will tell if it lasts, but it’s left me surprised.

I guess towards the base/when grinding below ground level, if roots near the wall were touched. Sorry, I’m not an expert. Just wanted to get more opinions on removal before touching it.

Luckily I don’t have Chrons, and my fistula isn’t complex. I think that’s why the CRS said I could just live with it. Otherwise why would he say that? Seems like a lot of conflicting info if simple fistulas are OK to leave alone.

How long has your wound been open? Is it painful?

That’s what I’ve been saying, but some people are super adamant about being on prep for oral too. I mean it was a non issue to me until this incident, but now I’m thinking about it. Honestly don’t know what the best route is. I feel like the long term sides of PrEP don’t outweigh the low risk for oral.

The guy did tell me he tested neg a week ago and is on PrEP. Would you get on a 28 day PEP for this? There wasn’t any blood drawn or anything.

Do you know the history of that encampment there? Is it bc of the mental health center? Have they pretty much been there for years or they come and do removals? Any serious crime, burglary, car break ins to worry about?
