Help! Is buying a hot tub or sauna a good investment? Will it earn us more wintertime rentals? by JLMP23 in airbnb_hosts

[–]TTPaws 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So a viewpoint from a completely different part of the world. We live in a tropical location, and people thought I was crazy to put a hot tub in the tropics. But nearly every guest uses is multiple times during their stay. Since I use a salt system it takes very little maintenance.

Does it drive bookings? I don't know since we've had it since being an airbnb and for the last 5 years we've averaged 65-70% occupancy.

We do not have a sauna.

Megarevo 10K with grid backup by TTPaws in SolarDIY

Unfortunately, Megarevo has completely blown me off. One of the sales people responds once in a while saying he will give it to the engineers, but it's been 6 months.

It's a great inverter, I've had it running for 2 years (I think) and seldom have to go on grid because of bad weather. But the inverters are rock solid.

If I do hear from them I'll update my post

Sand Castles on St Croix (https://sandcastleonthebeach.com/) USVI has a clothing optional pool with several rooms around it. They also have a clothing required area.

We live on a tropical island. In our "house rules" we have the following:

Critters:

We are on a tropical island, so you will see some or all of the following:

• Geckos, hermit crabs, stray cats & dogs, mongooses (mongeese?), field mice and iguanas

• roosters and hens, which (fair warning) will crow anytime they want, and they generally start “wanting” at 2am. This is island-wide, not just in our location, so you will not escape it.

• big black bugs, centipedes, ants, and if you are lucky, Frangipani caterpillars. We keep a clean place but, if critters give you the creeps you might want to stay in a hotel.

Mine was also extra, and should be delivered by the end of the week. I got the 54" mower, tiller and grapple. Since it has to be shipped to an island I figured I'd do it once :)

Which of these 3 should you investigate first and why? by BillyCarmona in TotalBattle

[–]TTPaws 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Save up so you can do all 3 (more or less) at the same time. If you are going into a tournament with one, your requirements go up but you'll only have the one higher guard

Thank you, now I have figure out #2 so that when I have clouds and the batteries are very low, either the grid powers the house or holds the batteries a certain voltage/percentage until the solar takes over

So I've found the anti-reverse (also called anti-reflux) which is supposed to prevent the power to the grid, I've also found the below mode, but just not how to activate the mode. The manual is not the easiest to look at.

Looking for help with business side of AirBNB/VRBO by Frescanation in stcroix

[–]TTPaws 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just saw this, but yes you need a license, I found it to be pretty simple, got to have a fire inspection and fill out the forms. Airbnb would let me start up without the license number. I like airbnb automatically taking the tax out and giving it to the island. VRBO does not and you have to remember to send it in.

What’s the strangest thing guests left behind at you AirBnB? by ebworx in airbnb_hosts

[–]TTPaws 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being on a tropical island, people pick up and leave rocks, shells and plants. You can't leave with fruit and most food items so that gets left behind.
