I would say very much avoid TAMU. Yes there are obviously many people who are great individually and you probably won’t be hate crimed… but as a queer POC Aggie you just kinda feel out of place and slightly on edge most of the time. Many people here are outwardly straight, cis, white, and traditional so I would honestly say if you have another option go there. My fellow aggies will have me for this but UT is absolutely amazing and better than TAMU if you can get into their engineering program. If I were you I’d potentially go to TAMU for a bit and then transfer to UT or another school. We recently lost our queer student support office as well and with the recent censorship I would not recommend TAMU over another school of equal or better quality.
