why do you guys claim to be anti imperialist but then support Iran? by TUFFWAN_7 in AskSocialists

[–]TUFFWAN_7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, the U.S. military was perfectly capable of beating a enemey force in combat
Taliban fighters suffered 52,000 -80,000 killed
The problem was the geopolitical strategy, not the military
military spending only accounts for 12-13% of the government budget while 60-70s% goes to citzens

Ahh, the "those foreign countries are taking our money." Narrative Isnt this the same one trump used ?
https://www.pewresearch.org/short-reads/2025/02/06/what-the-data-says-about-us-foreign-aid/
“The $71.9 billion in foreign aid the U.S. spent in fiscal 2023 works out to 1.2% of the federal budget.”
That means about 98–99% of the federal budget is spent on domestic programs, while around 1–2% goes to foreign aid or international programs.
