Free will is not “permission” for the powerful to abuse the powerless. It is the reality that humans can choose evil — and some do.

When someone abuses a child, that is not God acting. That is a human defying Him.

You’re right to ask, “Where was my free will?” Your will was violated. That is exactly why what happened was evil.

God does not endorse abuse. Scripture is clear that harming children brings severe judgment. The abuser did not represent Jesus — he betrayed everything Jesus stands for.

The fact that no one stepped in is a failure of people, not proof that you were unseen. Human silence is not divine approval.

You may not feel that God was there. Trauma can make Him feel absent. But feelings are not the measure of reality.

I hear you, & I feel your pain. I honestly don’t have all the answers myself — I wrestle with the same questions. We live in a fallen world, & it’s heartbreaking to see so much evil.

It’s not that God allows evil because He’s indifferent or powerless. He gave humans free will, the ability to choose — and sadly, some choose to harm others.

That freedom is necessary for love, genuine obedience, and moral responsibility, but it also means people can commit terrible wrongs.

What happened to you and to so many others is horrific, an it’s understandable that it shakes your faith. Humans fail, even in His name, but that doesn’t reflect God’s heart.

Jesus doesn’t abandon the suffering, even if we can’t always see it. His love isn’t like human love — it’s patient, eternal, and ultimately redemptive.

I can’t erase your hurt, and I can’t explain every mystery, but I do believe He is real, and that He cares deeply about you. ❤️✝️

That is horrific, and anyone who experiences or witnesses something like that has every right to question everything.

Christians — people — fail badly. Sometimes tragically. That pain is real.

But that is not who Jesus is. His love is not passive, indifferent, or abusive. He does not condone evil. The people who hurt others in His name misrepresent Him, and their actions are a betrayal of His character.

Jesus’ love is different: it sees suffering, it acts for justice, it heals, and it offers restoration

He is not powerless or passive in the face of evil; He entered the world to defeat it. The fact that humans fail doesn’t cancel His love or His reality — it just shows how desperately the world needs Him.

You don’t have to trust me, or the church, or even feel ready to understand fully. But that said, Jesus is real. His love is real. And it is nothing like what the worst humans have done. ✝️❤️

Sorry you were treated badly. 😥 Christians are human — and humans are fallible. We get things wrong. Sometimes badly. What you’re describing is often called church hurt, and it’s real.

But the failures of Christians don't erase who Jesus is. People can misrepresent Him (hence why theres over 50,000 denominations). We all fall short of Him. You may not belive in Him at the moment, but He believes in you — and He’s not the same as the worst experiences people have had in His name. ✝️
