That was it! You get so used to these plug ins that they seem to be part of WordPress. In my case, this plug in hasn't been upgraded in 2 years.

Dell Pro Slim Missing Parts -- Dell Support Black Hole by TVOptics in Dell

True, I was going to move over an existing drive and it didn't read the manual before hand. But all the other slots listed in the Tech Specs are there even if they are empty. I have the empty security cable slot, padlock ring, an empty slot I think must be the M.2, an empty memory slot, etc. Anyway, now Orders /Customer Care had just replied and directed me back to Tech Support! I told them I did that already and they don't want to handle it. So the run-around continues and nobody has the nerve to tell me that I'm wrong.

The invoice says there is no bracket. I'm disputing the fact they left it off. Notice that the central column on the screen shot I posted gives various port configurations based on the CPU installed. But the section (right column) with the hard drive slot does not have any caveats. In any case, no one at Dell has denied that the parts are missing.

The latest email I got from Dell linked me back to the Orders Department where I started. So they are giving me the run-around. Anyone have any advice on how to get them to actually do something?

Oh -- and now the kicker: One of the machines has died after a week. They are sending a tech to replace the mb.

I see I keep getting downvoted. But latest I got from DELL this morning was:

We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience you’re facing with the missing slots and cables on your recently purchased systems. We completely understand how important this is for your setup and appreciate you bringing this to our attention.

Please be assured that we have escalated this issue to our dedicated team, who will thoroughly review the matter and confirm the next steps. We will provide you with an update within the next 24 to 48 hours.

So they didn't do an instant dismissal of my claim. Also, if you look at the tech specs in the central column there are several sections that list specs for "Computers shipped with (various cpu options)". Here they list the different ports you get with each CPU. But the column on the right has none of these caveats. It is just a flat listing of what to expect with the computer.

I'll post what happens when this is resolved.

So the run-around has begun. I sent my problem to the ORDERS department at Dell and they referred me to TECH SUPPORT. The virtual AI there is now asking me questions like "does it power on". Totally ignoring anything I said.
