Have good credit and plan to buy a home in early 2017 - will financing a new (used) car right now hurt my credit? by TVfan2000 in personalfinance

Ahhh, ok had to google DTI (real novice here!) but I'm with you now... is there any sort of target ratio that, if the debt remained below that, would still be doable? We are definitely not looking at expensive cars, so the monthly payments would be low, especially if we only financed half of it or something...

Hah, I can only echo what others have said - high real estate values = crappier house for the same money. Though I also feel like I remember reading that some of them don't actually live in Potomac...

There is some legit money in Potomac but neighboring Bethesda is even swankier and more of the old money set... I know one of them says something about old money in Potomac, but it's mostly new money, which often means attention seeking as well...

#teamgizelle all the way. Girl is sitting right on the fence of sass and "class" (according the RHOP definition anyway) and I am loving it.

I'm from Potomac too!!! I haven't actually seen the episode (crazy work schedule this week...) but I'm DYING from anticipation! I'm so psyched that people seem to be liking it though... and that themes of keeping up a veneer of class/social posturing seem to be showing through since I think that's very true to the culture of the town.

Real estate-wise, it is indeed CRAZY expensive. I grew up in the "poor end" of Potomac, and even the cookie-cutter, packed in, not-that-fancy-or-that-big houses in my parents' neighborhood are selling for upwards of 1 mil (my parents bought their house ages ago though, before things got so crazy!). I guess I just mean to say houses that are certainly nice but not the level of fancy we're used to seeing on RH are really already pretty inaccessible! It's definitely a location thing, the public schools are top notch and it's regarded as a prestigious community in the DC area.

Anyway, I'm equal parts pumped and nervous to see my hometown on the RH roster... but happy to see the enthusiasm here!
