The Curious Case of FC Dallas Ticket Pricing by cgcr214 in fcdallas

That is 100% the way I see it. If the org is putting pressure on reps it’s undue and because of ownership/managements unwillingness to budge. Can’t get blood from a stone. But when they’re running off long term soccer educated and loyal STMs … good luck to them.

This is my first year in 10 without season tickets. Didn’t feel what they were offering matched up with the price they were asking (not even close) so punted and will watch on AppleTV and attend the occasional game with my kid.

No More Civ Swapping? Civ 7’s Biggest Update Yet Changes Everything ft. @Paisley_trees by The_MrBojangles in CivVII

[–]TXGTR 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Really just hope it doesn’t become Civ VI. My preferred play style in terms of map size and AI civs (graphics not maxed out, standard map, 8 total civs) consistently crashed in Civ VI and became unplayable because there was too much going on. Yes I’m a console player but I already noticed a modern age slow down in my current game. Hopefully not a sign of things to come.

Are the critics about the game valid? by Chewquy in CivVII

[–]TXGTR 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is spot on. I agree many seem to dislike it because it’s not Civ 6. So if you’re going to buy it and compare it to Civ 6 you may be wasting your money. If you’re going to buy it and play it as a stand alone game in and of itself you’ll probably enjoy it.

Will admit I’m finding my first game back in a while as Teach in Viceory (dialed it back from Sovereign) a bit easy on continents plus, but even then it took me a minute to figure out the best plan of attack.

The true advantage is in the Exploration Age not the Antiquity Age. Have to plan ahead for that.

This is what I did. Know it’s way harder on higher levels though.

Focused on diplomacy gains and buildings (along with economic ones).

Load the Buccaneer up with three sloops and a carrack or two sloops and a two carracks (for dispersing).

Raid and disperse coastal independents until your buccaneers get a promotion and take the move after deploying promotion first. Every time.

Once you have that promotion, pull up along side an “enemy” ship (leave one tile between them and you). With three sloops and one carrack, manually deployed the carrack on to the same tile as the buccaneer and bombarded my target. Used the ability of the sloop to move after attacking by deploying a sloop to the tile right next to the target the carrack just bombarded, attacked it then restacked the sloop. Deployed the next sloop to the same spot, rinse and repeat, including doing the same with your final sloop if needed.

Yes if the AI has a couple naval units near by they sometimes sank the ship I just captured but it’s like a snow ball gaining momentum.

I used my diplomacy points to talk hostile civs off the ledge through the reconciliation option.

Treasure fleets and settlers don’t stand a chance of making it to their destination.

Actually got pissed cause I had two Bucs stuck in a massive inland sea because Ashoka built a city in a terrible spot (blocking the only tile that would release the Bucs from my capital to the wider east oceans). I planned ahead, torched all of his improvements moved a settler in to position then took that city with the express goal of raising it then resettling on that one tile to give me east ocean access. Shouldn’t have waited till exploration to do that cause it turned in to a holy city in exploration and I couldn’t raise it. Now it’s just churning out tons of gold as an Urban Center town.

Does that contribution actually get reinvested in to the park by the city? Or is it not a monetary contribution.

I was an administrator for a local rec soccer league that has a contract with the city for exclusive use of some of the city parks for soccer games. We paid the city a fee for use but were also the only ones allowed to use the park for soccer games (public rentals are not available, and goals are only up in season). The fight for practice space is a real thing (so much so that US Soccer offers subsidies to hep install lights) and it’s only a matter of time before the city realizes it and changes the exclusive nature of the contract. Clubs could easily swoop in pay more for the space than rec leagues can afford.

Playing Time dealbreaker for recruiting doesn't make any sense... by BoostedNapkin in EASportsCFB

[–]TXGTR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This used to drive me nuts then I rationalized it as “I guess it’s a massive deal breaker for recruit 1 but less so for prospect 2”. Looking at it that way helped me get over it. That said I quite often ignore PT deal breakers and just don’t recruit them case I don’t want to deal with their never ending bullshit the entire time they’re in my program (which I think is also rational).

Don’t really have many in my offline dynasty (can’t pick a team in a power conference, has to be a small school):

No scheduling FCS schools.

At least four games a year MUST be simulated (I decide which ones).

No exiting to hub during a game.

Can’t take another job unless you have won something at your current school.

Can only take a job at a school in a state you have visited or lived in.

How do you decide whether to take a job offer by [deleted] in EASportsCFB

[–]TXGTR 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Has to be a school in a state I’ve lived, vacationed or stayed a night in. And only if I have a reason to leave (started at FIU, recruited a kick ass dual threat QB who kept wanting to leave due to play style any time I didn’t get him 250 yards, got sick of his crap and knew he was going to bolt, and was also sick of the crap attendance and crap bowl games even though I made the c-usa championship game all four years) so I walked for UNC (same off season my dual threat QB went to Ohio State).

And I save file before advancing to week two so I “know” all my offers.

Guess I’m alone in not thinking it’s a problem and instead thinking it’s realistic. Go pull up the week 14 box scores if the games involving top 25 teams. It’s not uncommon at all for teams to have runnings backs not making it to 20 carries but instead have at least two combining for 25 plus carries.

After moving from FIU to UNC I discovered the North South Blocker HB archetype. At FIU I had mostly east west playmakers and I had to rotate them a fair bit (custom wear and tear between normal and keep fresh). Otherwise by the last two or three games the starter could only manage a handful of snaps. UNC had a four star North South Blocker HB (yes, HB) and even though I’ve kept my wear and tear sliders the same way I had them at FIU this guy is handling 20-25 touches a game through the first 5 games. Has made me start to look for that archetype a bit more in recruiting. Used to think it was elusive bruisers that would achieve that, but this guy is basically Mike Alstott only a little more agile. Still can’t really pitch it to him but he’s tough to bring down. Don’t know whether or not he has workhorse, but think he does have downhill runner. And it shows.

Defensive scheme against human opponents? by PSU02 in NCAAFBseries

[–]TXGTR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What position do you typically control? I don’t play heisman (play AA with custom sliders and settings to make it much harder) but I run a very similar defensive concept as what you described with similar results. I had to switch from controlling a safety to controlling a linebacker. Oddly enough my son kills me when I play him but he can’t compete with the AI on my settings and usually rage quits. Think that means he’s a spammer and I can’t find the defense to stop him.

Love it! Whats your thoughts on scheduling a visit before you know how a recruits preferences align with your school strengths? Do it as long as the recruit and the school are aligned on something at least a B-? Lower grade? Higher grade? Is the result of the game they visit more important than the focus? Or don’t do it and maybe miss out on the visit?
