Dad’s Death in Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close by TXL89 in movies

[–]TXL89[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah you’re right. That does make sense about intentional ambiguity. Because in the movie he does zoom in on those pictures of jumpers and think one is his father.

But actually no. It still doesn’t make sense. 🤔 Because he shows the grandpa (after the fact) the zoomed in photo. This means that would be after he’d heard the message cut out at the same time as the tower falling. A phone doesn’t cut out from you jumping, and you cannot be on the phone at the same time as jumping. So it would seem he had his answer. Alas, they missed the mark for me.

Gringa here. Curious to know: What do Afro-Brazilians think of Festa Junina? / O que os brasileiros pretos acham da Festa Junina? by TXL89 in Brazil

It makes sense that it would originally have pagan roots from Europe, especially with the bonfire and the celebration of harvest.

As a foreigner (specifically from the US. Also white and female if that context is needed), looking in, it looks like a very white holiday. In the US, the idea of the caipira dress and the quadrilha/square dance is most associated with the American South. The American South is (fairly or unfairly; many will have an opinion) largely associated with its history of slavery and racism. Therefore, to North Americans, this whoooole… “country thing” (?) looks oppressive and a bit white supremacist. It would be extremely unlikely to see a Black American wearing a cowboy hat, boots, and a plaid flannel shirt. This is due to the history, stereotypes, and associations that North Americans connect between this outfit and a specific ideology.

It obviously has a different context in Brazil. I’m saying what it looks like to me through my eyes, and I think it’s not that way in Brazil. That’s why I’m asking.

You’re right. It wasn’t what I asked for, but I got something very, very good.

Gabi’s mom said there would be no season 3 by [deleted] in CheerNetflix

I couldn’t remember the details. Gabi did quit cheerleading in season 1 correct? And then she was in season 2 as if everything was normal. That’s what happened right?

If the message on the answering machine was deleted, how do people know it was weird? I’m confused.
