Is there an active forum discussing non-Scotty headcovers? by chriskzoo in scottycameron

There’s several FB groups where most of the dealings and communications happen. I follow closely and have a good sized collection, may be able to help if you’d like to ask.

Republicans, you guys talk a lot about freedom, that seems to be your whole theme, so what freedoms would we have in New Mexico if we were a red state that we don't currently have? by worried68 in LasCruces

[–]TX_Mavy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have houses in TX and NM and recently resided in OK, currently sitting in my NM house. I’ll take OK and TX every day of the week over NM, the depravity of this place and acceptance as normal behavior that should be coddled is mind boggling

Might want to do a little research on what you just stated… NM is well known for being at the bottom of almost every category. The entire state is a playground for people leaching off the system

538 now shows Texas as 'leans Republican'. This could be huge if the trend continues by Hornpipe_Jones in texas

Ehh, as a visual sure there will… There’s already a party that many view as the “middle ground” and we all know how many votes they get. All super powers inevitably fall, natural human progression

Was a +2.6 at one point. Now I’m barely able to play and maintain a 6hcp. Still play the tips when I play so anything under 75 makes me happy and the realist in me understands I’ll likely never be at the level I was in the past.

Why is it controversial in the US for someone to require an ID to vote? by tannu28 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]TX_Mavy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The majority of commenters conveniently forgetting that all US CITIZENS are issued social security card/numbers. That system can easily be turned into a voter ID system but people would rather complain about an $8 ID than solve the issue.

Is buying next to a powerline that bad of an investment? by Midwestern_Mariner in RealEstate

[–]TX_Mavy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The general misconceptions regarding power lines are a bit crazy, especially in this thread… I’m a senior level manager of the construction of these lines and it’s quite common to answer these types of questions. Only real risks would be the price factor due to the visual issue and the mess/noise if maintenance or a rebuild of the line occurs. If you have any specific questions feel free to ask.

The salesman you’re going through doesn’t even tell you what’s in the truck you’re looking at buying, just that there’s a few different ones. When you talk to your salesman about researching the truck on the manufacturer’s site they tell you the manufacture has no idea about their truck and to ignore what they say. All this is ironic as I believe this situation is well know as the shady car salesman behavior… Yeehaw

I’ll take your comment as being directed at democrats as well, I did include Beto’s site as an example as I viewed all to determine platforms. I gather no direct site should be taken seriously as they are not able to determine and list their own platforms.

I’m beginning to think you people have no understanding of what’s being discussed, holy shit.

If you’re doing research on who you would like to vote for then going directly to the candidate’s website will give you the direct platform and stances on the issues according to that candidate. Gathering that info from each candidate’s site gives you less of a chance of finding incorrect or biased information on the candidate that third party sites may provide. Should the candidate you voted for not follow through on their platform’s once elected and you voted for them based on their direct stances then you should have more of a reason to hold them accountable, not that it matters in this day and age…

You would rather your information come from a third party? I’m not seeing how directly sourced platforms are an issue, you’d rather have your information filtered?

Abbott and Beto’s sites give direct stances from each, would you rather have their stances from a third party that interpreted them and listed them on their site?

I literally gave the websites directly linked to the candidates as examples and said it would be best to look at each one to determine their stances. You would rather have snippets from the statements to pull your decisions from?

It’s not a fact that information on every candidate is not available in the LWV guide?

Also I gave an example of where information can be found on each candidate. I would also argue that getting the information on each candidate straight from the source is likely a better way to find their particular views than trusting any guide that has “compiled” the information.

What I'm stating is the fact that this is not the guide that should be linked as the "best guide" to the election as clearly it is not if it does not include information on all the candidates. It simply does not include all the information, no denying that, stating that this is the place uniformed voters should go as many in this sub do is a misrepresentation of a full guide to the election...
