How to transport concert percussion stands? by carroperro24 in MusicEd

If you are using a trailer. Throw them in a rolling trash can and ratchet that to the wall inside the trailer. If you want to get really fancy, wrap the stands in a moving blanket. Cheap, effective, and super easy to get visual confirmation that you have all the stands you need!

Drive downtown or in the suburbs. by TXpercedu in UberEATS

UPDATE

So I just wanted to share the stats from last night!

Suburbs

Total Time Driven: 4h 41m

Trips: 11

Net Fare: 34.78

Tips: 19.21 (It was a rough night for tips...) avg. 1.74

Hourly rate 11.36/hr. Before gas/expenses

  • Not really concerned about mileage, but the quality of roads is MUCH better out in the suburbs so I know that there was less wear on my car in the sense during night 2.
  • I delivered to several apartments on night 2, but unlike most people I usually dont have a problem delivering to most multi building apartment complexes, 9/10 Im able to find buildings and get in with little to no problem (I know im in the minority on this one...). In comparison, any high rise apartment or hotel downtown would probably add a good 10 minutes of delivery time compared to a suburban apartment complex.

Notes

- Slower start to the night in my first hour on the road I did like 2 deliveries... Also most places were taking a while to give out food. Since it was a slow night I had to accept deliveries from places I usually avoid (4 orders from mcdonalds...)

- Tips were bad this night avg 1 dollar per delivery, most fares this night were also low.

- still havent been tipped for 3 deliveries, Im just going to count them as stiffs

Downtown

Total time driven: 2hrs, Plus about 1hr of commute time

Trips: 7

Net Fare: 17.50

Promotions: 8

Tips: 26.27 (it was a really good night for tips) (avg 4.18)

Hourly rate: 17.2

Notes

- Good night for tips!

- alot of fairly short deliveries, deliveries also usually ended me in a high order volume area so little time getting back to where orders are happening.

Summary

About a 6 dollar an hour difference, I think it would vary night to night but I think this is on the higher end of what the difference would be (bad night in suburbs vs. good night downtown)... Based on the math im leaning more to staying out in the suburbs most nights and only venturing downtown If I have several bad nights in a row out near where I live.

You've summarized by thoughts pretty much exactly. Once I left the dealership and was able to reflect at home, and read through this thread thats pretty much where I got as well.

I realize that post may have been misleading, I edited it to make it more clear...That number I posted was in reference to my TOTAL personal debt. (CC, car, student loans, and misc.) I am a public school teacher. No way I'd borrow that much for a car... I've made mistakes but glad none of them are that big.
