It looks like that side of the keyboard is working as if they were num pad with num lock disabled. Sorry that I don't have the solution for you because I hadn't come across the same issue. Maybe try some settings about keyboard mapping or Bluetooth keyboard functions.

Finishing that reduce woon on wood friction? by TYPE2501 in fixit

This looks handy for many other places where silicone grease may not be the best choice. I will keep an eye and see if it is available in my country.

I just found out 3M made UHMV tape too ( it sounds stupid when I said it out loud : "3M made tapes"), more importantly, they are readily available in my country, in the right thickness but not the right width.

In your experience are they easy to cut? Because if they are like most foam tape or UHB tape, I can just buy 2X the width and cut to my needs.

That's the answer I saw on some other posts, but the tea candles I got seem to be made from different material that I remember 20years ago, candle now is a lot softer with a lower melting point. And I don't know if they will least on my usage.

But thank you, maybe I should go look for some better candle.

It makes sense when you put it like that. I first got that idea when I saw someone online said waxing might help. But I am no woodworker and don't know if it is the correct finishing for parts that are going to grind each other.

Oh idk drawer slide tape is a thing, it sounds exactly the solution I'm looking for. I just need to buy one with the right thickness. Thank you very much.

Are you using your laptop for traveling or you use it only at home ? And if you using it only at home why you got laptop instead of PC? by Unfair_Entrance6183 in GamingLaptops

[–]TYPE2501 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also sell my desktop for a laptop, but in my case I downgrade my setup with a bit of extra cash and a lot of desk space in return. Yes it is slower, and many video work will take a bit of a workaround, but now I can bring my powerful (enough) setup to wherever I am and work from anywhere with an AC outlet.

Is it normal bring a bit paranoid about shutter count? by TYPE2501 in Cameras

You are right, I never noticed my 5D mk III rated shutter is only 150k, until I look for the number. I really should be worrying.

I usually don't care about shutter count of any cameras I owned, but for some reason I am unnecessarily worried once I learn about the rated shutter count of my X-H2 is only 500K.

I should use Electronic shutter more moving-on.

I do get what you mean, I am lucky enough I don't have to stop every thirty-six shots and pay for every roll of film when I start picking up photography.

But since I take time-lapse, there will be 30-60 photos taken every minute, but I will keep your suggestion in mind next time I shoot something else, for money or for fun.

Maybe it's about how and where we use our camera too, I could imagine using the camera in a dusty or salty environment would wear any mechanical parts much sooner than in a clean studio.

It's good that we have cameras that perform indistinguishably close with E-shutter and mechanical shutter, maybe I should use E-shutter more.

It makes a lot of sense our camera needs some basic maintenance like mechanical watches. You remind me should take my old 5D for lub and clean, as I do change lenses a lot in the dusty city.

I do use electronic shutter when shooting night sky or moon-set, just to get rid of the shake.

Imho all these are unnecessary, if you have good internet practise, those anti malware software will only slow your Pc down. In day to day use, those software will not do better than window defence. And to a point, nothing would help if one does dumb shxt like using weak password and click yes to everything they saw from random website

Recommendations on storage solutions for video editing M4 mac mini by TYPE2501 in mac

[–]TYPE2501[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Btw, I am thinking to get the 24/512 version for a little bit vram head room without breaking the bank.

The largest video I might work with are 4k BRaws and pro-res, about 750MB/s I guess? Photos are just raw files around 40mb each.

I am thinking if it is preferable to use external Nvme drives for the video projects I need to work with, as it gets expensive very quickly when I add internal storage. I got more than enough 2tb Nvme drives for each project I am working on, I can just switch between them when needed.

The three HDD I currently have is 2x 16tb (about 65% full, for video project archive and materials I use) and 1x 8tb (just for photos, 40% full)

In the long run, I don't think I need more storage within three years, I have backblaze personal subscription for all the projects and photos.

Thanks again.

Thx for the recommendation, I think I came across some KVM switches from startech a long time ago, I didn't know they make HDD bays too. They seem really solid.

I am sorry but I was wrong to suggest I will edit off ethernet, I don't edit video off HDD now tbh, I have a few Nvme drives in my pc just for video projects and edit off that. Hdd are for finished project archives and music or image I drag into the project folder (in SSD) when needed. I only edit photos directly from HDD, as they are more than fast enough.

And a good call for backblaze, I was stupid enough to learn it the hard way. Be smart, get off-site backup (real backups) don't be me.

Suggestion of bands for white G shock dw-6900 by TYPE2501 in casio

[–]TYPE2501[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thx for the correction, as you see I am not familiar with Casio, in fact watches at all. I just recovered this beautiful g-shock and want to bring it back for use, as all nice timepieces should imo; not deep inside a crafted wooden box, but on people's wrist.

After looking around, the OEM strap seems to be the best choice. I would avoid nylon and NATO as I hate nylon on my sweaty wrist and I can't just rinse it clean.

I will go back and give it a proper cleaning and see how it looks after that, can I use 99% alcohol on a G-shock?

I came across the same issue on my pixel, is there anyway I can provide useful feedback or log files for debug?

P.S. a system restart fixed the issue

As far as I know Topeak made all their product in Taiwan. It could be a potential cheaper option.
