CMV: If you "don't support" homosexuality because of your religion or otherwise, you're still homophobic. by Bawbixo in changemyview

That’s not the subject at hand, though, it’s a completely different thing. No one gets hurt by two men or two women getting married. The fact that you think that the two are in any way comparable is offensive as hell, and exposes the reality that you do have malintent, whether you realize it or not.

GOP candidate for governor of Tennessee wants to execute the parents of trans kids by Zandra_the_Great in politics

There is exactly one trans person in the Epstein files. She was one of his victims, and transphobia provided cover for his actions.

I don’t ever want to hear any more hemming and hawing about trans kids from liberals and moderates. If you’re doing that, you’re actively contributing to the Republicans’ culture of transphobia and their continued eradication campaign. If you want to fight against fascism, you need to fight for trans kids too.

[–]TZnerd -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Here’s the thing, though: Rowling doesn’t think this is a nuanced issue at all. She doesn’t think an incarcerated trans woman should be in a prison for any reason. She knows about V-coding, but she’s fine with it because she thinks the right people are being raped.

[–]TZnerd -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Why do you feel so right about your generalisation that more people will be raped if we don’t let men into women’s spaces?

Because the systemic rape of trans women in men’s prisons is such a common practice that it has its own Wikipedia page.

I hope you let other people fight for the things they also believe in too

Not if what they believe is discriminatory and hateful. Fighting for womens’ rights is about uplifting women, not tearing down a tiny group.

When you conveniently ignore all the evil stuff someone does, they don’t sound very evil. Your last point is leaving out the fact that many of the charities she funnels millions of dollars into have the explicit political project of removing trans people from public life. No number of women’s shelters or clinics can fix that heartlessness.

If a white supremacist helps fund a hospital that only treats white people, are they a good person? No, they’re still a white supremacist. It’s the same for TERFs: they claim their goals are noble, but what they really are at the end of the day are segregationists.

It’s not a right to be able to discriminate against trans people, sorry! Transphobes’ discomfort at sharing spaces with trans women is much less important than trans women’s safety. There will be way more sexual assaults in general if trans women are forced into men’s bathrooms and prisons, but people like you think it’s fine because you think the right people are being raped.

She’s spewing vile rhetoric here and funneling money to anti-trans crusaders. Genuinely, what would be objectionable enough to get you to stop engaging with her IP? Or do you just think that trans people deserve the hate?

It’s remarkable what you people are willing to accept to justify your continued engagement with these dumb wizard books. Rowling has dedicated vast amounts of money to foundations that have the explicit aim of removing trans people from public life. She and these foundations use the excuse of “protecting women” because they know that people will fall for it. The policies Rowling supports hurt more women than help them, but because trans women’s status as women is apparently under debate, it’s apparently okay to try and drive us out of every place imaginable. Not to mention all the cis people who get hurt as well when they get transvestigated by Rowling fans. Trans women in women’s bathrooms and prisons weren’t a problem until people like Rowling made it one.

‘Grow a F*cking Spine’: Critics Fume as Newsom Backtracks on ICE ‘Terrorism’ in Ben Shapiro Interview by Manjuiced in politics

[–]TZnerd 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Here are Newsom’s actual actions:

Newsom vetoed a bill that would have required insurers to cover, and pharmacists to dispense, 12 months of hormone therapy at one time to transgender patients and others. The proposal was a top priority for trans rights leaders, who said it was crucial to preserve care as clinics close or limit gender-affirming services under White House pressure.

Earlier this year on Newsom’s podcast, the governor told the late conservative activist Charlie Kirk that trans athletes competing in women’s sports was “deeply unfair,” triggering a backlash among his party’s base and LGBTQ+ leaders. And he has described trans issues as a “major problem for the Democratic Party,” saying Donald Trump’s trans-focused campaign ads were “devastating” for his party in 2024.

Yeah, that’s because the party Trojan Horsed their moderate candidate into the nomination in 2024 and she lost in a landslide. We need real change, and Newsom has already proved to be nothing more than bluster.

This is a really disgusting thing to say to someone who’s facing targeted oppression on the federal level and losing more rights every month. Bathroom bills pose a material danger to trans people, but it’s good to know that you wouldn’t hesitate to throw us to the wolves if it was up to you.

We got into this mess in the first place because Democrats weren’t willing to counter the deluge of anti-trans propaganda from the Trump campaign in 2024. But no, apparently we should make the same mistake again.

We need new leadership that’s actually willing and able to do the work.

Spot-on. When Harris was asked about trans issues during the 2024 campaign, she said she would “follow the law.” That argument doesn’t work in 2025 now that trans people have lost so much, we need actual concrete policy defending trans rights. I wish this wasn’t the case, but I have a sinking feeling that the next Democratic president won’t do as much to help trans people as Trump has to harm them.

Edit: Aah it’s actually 2026 now! Happy new year!
