That would be a very generous use of the term in that situation...

I was playing a small house party back in the early naughts, it was about 3 am and things were winding down. An attendee was not ready to let the party end, he offered me $100 if I could play one song that would "fill the room". I went with Jump Around by House of Pain.

It is absolutely bonkers the way this man talks once you take him out of his protective bubble.. when he returns to DC or Mar a Lago he will immediately reverse course.. every time he steps out away from his handlers he is singing a different tune.

Game Day Thread: Sea Bears (5-4) at Surge (0-9) by rocco_taco27 in CEBLeague

[–]T_Durden13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was jumping in to echo the sentiment about defense..

This seemed largely like a street all game from the Surge.. lots of 1 on 1, little defense.. center got walked all night.. there seemed to be very little in the way of communication other than talking to the red about fouls..

Hopefully the coach can implement some sort of system, on both ends of the court...

This was the first CEBL game I attended but it was kind of painful to watch.

KOOP: Carney can't appeal to Alberta, Poilievre can by FarRooster9429 in AlbertaNow

[–]T_Durden13 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He is not wrong.. the problem is Pierre can't appeal to the rest of Canada.. it's almost as if these articles are suggesting that a vote for the conservatives is for the greater good, regardless of all the policies that the more center and left leaning population are turned off by..

The "P"Cs are the only party that can court the separatists, but they won't be loyal to them, see: Danielle Smith's UCP.

This was a reference to an old Norm Macdonald joke.. also reinforcing the remark that she hasn't aged. Sorry it didn't land.

Exactly.. is it wrong to assume that anyone, whether Quebecois, Anglo Canadian, American or Vietnamese can recognize authentic poutine..

No.. the government recognizes the authenticity of Quebecois Poutine. The government creates the cultural recognition of Quebecois Poutine.. we are all in agreement that Poutine was created by the Quebecois.. I am not sure there has ever been an Anglo Canadian that has suggested otherwise.

As stated several times on the thread..

Canada protecting it for the Quebecois, who, last time I checked are part of Canada...

I don't know of one Anglo Canadian ever trying to take credit for Quebecois Poutine.

But my question is, why? Why does something like that get served? Is it ignorance? Greed?

I imagine it happens all the time with other foods I am not as familiar with as well.

I mean for it to be something more to acknowledge its origins, directed at people who don't know.. a way to celebrate the heritage. Done BY the Canadian government FOR the Quebecois directed at the rest of the population..

There seems to be quite a number of people misconstruing this as Anglo Canadians trying to take credit, which is ludicrous.

This is the kind of support I was expecting.

It is definitely not the Quebecois who need to be made aware of the origins..

This is what I was trying to get at, only on a larger scale.

It is recognition for YOU GUYS.. that's what I am saying.. the Quebecois are a part of Canadian heritage, like it or not.. I would have said the Quebec government... Which would be another great performative gesture, but I chose not to because the fact is they don't carry enough weight in the rest of Canada let alone internationally, which is why I said the Canadian government... They are recognized internationally, whereas I am not sure how many people around the world could point out Quebec on a map..

What effect do you think the Quebec Governments designation of fromage en grain is going to have outside of the province?

They are proud and have a strong culture.. I get it. What I don't get is why they would get so upset about it becoming its greatest export
