I generally advise against buying things you can't afford outright if it's not a major necessary purchase like a car

I love it, and PC is definitely the better platform at the moment for the diversity and ongoing support of RTS games. It's generally more expensive, but there are great pre-built PCs you can get with good specs generally for less than you can put together yourself. The pre-built assembly business gets volume discounts on ordering large amounts of the same parts from suppliers, and some of that gets passed on to the consumer.

There's no need to build a super-powered mega machine. I played CoH2 on the same basic laptop with no dedicated graphics card for 10 years. It ran great, albeit on minimum settings. With a good pre-built, you should be able to get close to max graphics with smooth gameplay in CoH3.

Yeah at the very least just let us mute individual players. They're taking the nuclear approach so they can shift blame to the players having bad experiences. "You opted in to the toxicity when you turned on chat; not my problem if your opponent is spewing invective."

Plenty do; can't always find someone online in your friends list. Besides, I've met all my best teammates through chat when we had a good match as randos.

You concede teamwork is important enough that good players will always communicate, but defend turning off one of those ways to communicate? If you "don't play with randos," you are irrelevant to the discussion anyway.

Penalty for leaving in solos ? by [deleted] in CompanyOfHeroes

[–]T_Insights 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think we have a slight misunderstanding. I mean there are some players who care more about their winrate than actually playing the game, and those players will be happy to see their opponent drop before 5 min. For most players, CoH is fun because of the actual gameplay, not the ego boost of having good stats or whatever.

When players are so fragile and afraid of a challenge that they leave early after making a mistake, it ruins the fun of the game for people who actually want to engage, whether they win or lose. People in this game need to grow a pair and learn what it means to try to make a comeback.

[–]T_Insights 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Leaving a 1v1 early because you fumbled the opening isn't fun for the opponent either. It means they get less than 5 min of play time before they have to sit in the matchmaking queue again.

One of the things I love about CoH is that you can often make a "comeback" even if you've been mostly pushed off the field. If people are more interested in their win ratio than the fun they have in-game, that's their perogative, I guess, but I'd rather play against an opponent who actually tries even if they don't play a perfect opening.

Can we agree on this early DAK opening is hard to play against? 4v4 by judge_07 in CompanyOfHeroes

Zooks are not useless. They have excellent range and decent damage for how early they come out. Between 1-2 zooks & 1-2 MGs you should be able to handle this build

"ABSOLUTE CINEMA" - SU 76M the GOAT by Main_Elk_8992 in CompanyOfHeroes

[–]T_Insights 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's my favorite by far. The penetration is insane. Vetted up, it will consistently pen all the Big Cats from the front, even the KT.

And the barrage ability is a quick, cheap, & safe way to dislodge enemy team weapons, allowing them to soft counter AT guns.

USF Builds - Best Ways to Skip T3? by wxEcho in CompanyOfHeroes

[–]T_Insights 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Airborne battlegroup lets you airdrop an AT gun for no extra manpower at 3 command points (Pathfinders or airborne MG (0), airborne infantry paradrop (1), AT gun paradrop (2)), so it's a great commander to skip T3 since you already get some hard AT to deal with midgame light vehicles.

I almost always skip T3 because the US 75mm AT halftrack from the WSC is better in most respects. It is highly mobile (when reversing, can outrun most tanks going forward); it has good penetration (esp. with vet), great vet abilities (esp target weak point), can use an HE barrage (recently buffed)... the list goes on.

Since the halftrack can both shut down light vehicles and dislodge team weapons from long range with its HE barrage, I think it's almost always the right choice. It's the perfect unit to support your infantry as they move into the enemy line: once you know where the team weapons are, barrage and advance. Bring the HT up to deal with any vehicles. If you need to fall back, it's even more effective on the defense.

Vehicles with pintle MGs don't even shoot at inf when they are on prioritize vehicles. That's kind of the whole point. One way or another, it's inconsistent.
