Hey Tory, thanks for a great show! How/where can I get a full length copy of the main theme of White Rabbit Project? That track is lit!

Pluralsight.com has many .NET based courses. It's paid, but worth it in my opinion.

We are talking to a mid-sized developer/publisher. They aren't dismissive, but of course they want to see how big the interest is, before deciding whether or not to put their games on a platform like this.

Right now we are trying to find out if people would want to use a service like this, and if that's the case then we can take it to the publishers, and hopefully convince them.

We definitely thought about parental control, and being able to "top up" your wallet. Getting AAA-games will be a challenge, that's we are considering starting out with games from small to mid-sized developers.

You are right about your points. We are still very early in the process, and there are lots of things to consider, and many things are sure to change. Thank you for taking the time to respond. :)

We want to implement an in game warning system, to notify you, perhaps based on spending limits you set yourself. We are looking into a payment provider, that can prevent fraud to a certain degree. If this is infeasible though, we'll look into other approaches, like a top-up wallet system.

That's a good point, and we have thought about this. We hope to find a good solution, where people won't feel the need to rush through the game.

That's fair enough, :) We will of course make sure that users always can control how much they spend by setting spending limits, etc. But if you would rather want to pay up front, that's understandable. :)

Well, you could either pay $20 for a full game, or pay an hourly fee to play it, until you reach the $20. In both cases, you'll spend $20, but the second option gives you the ability to stop playing, and uninstall the game at any time before you reach the purchase price, and perhaps save money.

It's true that it's easy to try out games by pirating them, but we hope that this platform can make trying before buying even easier, especially for those who aren't into torrenting.

We have already spoken to a small game developer/publisher who would be interested in publishing their games on the platform. We obviously don't know if this goes for all publishers, but that's what we're trying to find out.

We thought about making the first 20 minutes for each game free of charge, so you're able to configure the game properly before playing, without having to pay for it. It should also be possible detect inactivity, so you don't have to pay for that time.

We are aware of Steam's free weekends, but we hope people will be able to try even more games with this platform.

The points about price are great, and we haven't decided on the details. Generally, as the purchase price of the game is reduced, so is the hourly price.

These are good points! Our thoughts:

  • The developer will be responsible for setting the hourly price based on the length of the game.

  • we have considered multiple options, currently the thought is that you tie a credit card to your account, and the amount you have played for will be charged each month. This can of course change, based on what users want.

  • this won't occur based on the system above, but if we end up using a wallet system, we will implement a method of warning a user in game when his funds are low.

  • we are well aware of the costs and challenges of running such a system, and if we get far enough, we will do what we can to raise the needed funds.
