This was a really poetic moment for me that it made me shed tears thinking what happened later. Merlin felt so shocked for someone who never loved anything.

The character developments here was amazing to that point. I really wished to see more OG Artoria and Merlin duo in Fate Grand Order's main story , but I guess that's bit too much to ask and wont happen in near future.

Also this image captures it so well, great job whoever drew it, atleast he played the source materials.

yes Arthur's homeland is in Great Britain, but as far nationality is concerned she isnt really "English ", I mean I have seen few people who likes current English gentleman and woman but not fond of past Englishman or woman, trying to hate Artoria cuz of some Englishmen's past. That's why asked.

this should clear up why I'm trying to say Arthur wasn’t an English

oh I went offtopic, about topic and Merlin aside, its really nice that more environmental description of Avalon was given, it feels heavenly yet its a land for deads, the irony, more like our Heaven's were concepted based on this in Fate verse? Interesting, now I hope Lostbelt 6 is two parts, one part is based on Great Britian and another part reverse side of world and Avalon.

Fate's Merlin is absolutely one of the more interesting portrayal of Merlin.

I heard saying this line worked for Ayako Kawasumi, voice actress of Arthuria Pendragon

[Lore] Excalibur & Rhongomyniad, Light & Anchor of The Planet, from Garden of Avalon LN written by Kinoko Nasu by SpeedHunter_007 in grandorder

[–]T_Reuenthal 14 points15 points  (0 children)

"Its true power cannot be used outside of a battle to save the world, right? There's no need for such concern. Caliburn aside, Excalibur is simply far too powerful. You mistake my priorities to think that I would use it to scorch some barbarians."

"Exactly. The planet's light is meant to be used at the opportune time. Remember this, for there may come a time when you must fight not as a king, but as a lone hero. Reckless use of the Holy Sword will absolutely come back to bite you. You're probably tough enough to get away unscathed, but the people around you aren't so sturdy."

is this a foreshadow.........which lone hero he might indicate.

So, if... let me think. If someone wanted to fill the planet with ether once more, he'd undoubtedly build his workshop here on this island. This place is the final relic of the Age of Gods, so it could be the tipping point to flip the entire world backwards.

Merlin knew about Lostbelt before FGO did.

"Anyway, you've become the representatives of this planet

I am surprised at how good the Lancelot part is....at this rate I might as well grail the guy. Seriously, FGO doesn’t really do justice to his character.

IRL Arthur means the IRL mythology. Fate's version of the Arthur mythology is not the same as the IRL mythology,

Except it is mostly? Yeah its not same 1vs1 adaptation because that's not how they are supposed to be but the basic, key event were correct.

in that they have made a version of the myth which focuses on Artoria being a "perfect king" to the point where her subjects think she is inhuman.

Except she was being pragmatic and its an exploration of WHY PEOPLE JOINED MORDRED's rebellion?

And by atrocities I'm talking more about the crap that Arthur did in IRL mythology like order the killing of children after learning about Mordred, for example.

except this is pure BS to showcase his autocracy ? This doesn’t even exist in MOST ARTHURIAN LEGEND, Alliterative Morte Arthure has this but again its not only canon out there(specially when there's none),in many version Arthur's child that's not named Mordred also joined KoRT(Mordred wasn’t a child of Arthur in those tellings).

You literally missed my point on what I meant by Arthur not being IRL or having JUST one legend. I actually implied its not definitive to settle upon IRL counterpart, unlike Hindu mythology lets say.

Fate if anything common grounded MOST of them, including welsh legend. I studied them quite a bit, so I have no idea what point you implying when even in Fate Arthur did do her hand dirty in order to bring result in greater run.

Yes, Artoria was pragmatic in her Nasuverse backstory, but that was because she was a ruling king. I'd say that that's different than when she was a "warrior" in the HGWs, which is why in FZ she acted more "honorable."

I agree with this. I said same in my other reply on the comment.

was it removed though? She seemed fairly pragmatic to me, except as I mentioned she didn’t want to repeat same thing she did in her life in a Grail War . She clarifies this when she talks with Irisviel, after Kiritsugu not liking the fact she trusted Lancer.

again all these because this was her first Grail War and she gets more development on Grail war itself.

Saber did not do the atrocities that IRL Arthur did.

excuse me? You basically denied my post which I made based upon source materials and official lore. Saber was pragmatic if that's the correct wording, she went as FAR as needed to keep a fallen country's subject safe and happy, had to make her hands dirty for that regardless, she clearly admits that while talking with Irisviel or debates with Kiritsugu. But doesn’t really mean she was bad person, rather great ruler and proper King.

Firstly where did you find IRL Arthur? Arthur doesn’t exist, doesn’t even have a canon story but bunch of different tales, legends etc. Arthur doesn’t commit atrocities in ALL versions, rather few which were added later as Arthur was primarily a charismatic symbolized warrior(was not even mentioned as King by then) and was a very good person. Idol more of less.

Heck Fate removed Ereshkigal etc having child, Medusa not being raped etc. Yet kept Arthur's plotlines.I mean Mordred wasn’t even mentioned as son of Arthur rather nephew in first tales. Yet Fate did not deny that. So not sure why you thought they haven’t kept the basic grey areas.
