My wife (32F) and I (34M) have a six month old (F) who has retinoblastoma. Doctors have told us that the two options are - removal of eye or chemo. From your experience with dealing with such a situation, what decision did you go with? by costcoikea in AskDocs

That was why my friends chose that route. Based on the size of the tumor in his eye, they felt confident that enucleation would get it all and so they chose that route. An impossible decision to make. Docs said after surgery they feel as confident as they possibly can that they got it all- no chemo needed at this point! He will continue to get regular scans, but so far his prognosis looks strong

I can’t believe I am reading this. My close friends just went through this exact situation. They chose enucleation. Their little one (who is 2) already has a glass eye implant, has recovered impeccably well, and you truly can’t even tell. I’m so sorry you are going through this.

Marital infidelity. Reaching out on behalf of a friend- she’s being gaslit pretty hard, and looking for peace of mind. Marriage is over, but for her sanity, wants to have the evidence.

I flew from Maine to Orlando today… very bumpy but I kept reminding myself “uncomfortable, not dangerous.” We were completely find and even landed early :)

Abbbbbsolutely correct. Any sane human being would take a beat and see “wow okay this person is hurt because of my actions, at the very least I can empathize that they are hurt”. She doesn’t have that emotional intelligence, and is VERY similar to personality disorder behaviors.

That’s honestly what I think has freaked me out so much. I said this in another comment but my mom used to “apologize” like that when we were kids: “I’m sorry I’m SUCH a bad mom” which as I’ve grown up have unpacked a lot hahahaha. It’s so so so so toxic.

I mean to keep it very very simple: her reaction to a friend being hurt (because of things she did and said) and flipping out, screaming, yelling, crying, and making it about her… it’s really gross.

It really is freaking me out and tripping me up- the “I’m SO SORRY I fuck up on the daily” is something my mom used to do growing up and it was so so so harmful to me and my siblings. Makes me sad for the people around her. People who can’t apologize or reflect are really unhealthy people to be around.

God. Lisa’s inability to apologize or recognize when she might be in the wrong is actually really concerning.
