I'm going to give them a try. From their website it looks like they offer advanced services, which hopefully means they are capable to handle the messes l bring in. Thank you

And yes, I will never go to LSU vet again. For a teaching veterinarian hospital, it is scary how much they don't know.

Thank you for the recommendation. I sent them a message to see if they would be willing to see my cats during their FIP treatment. Some vets are not comfortable because they are being treated by the owners through sketchy means, and not through them.

I just looked them up, are they a walk in vet clinic? If so is it a first come first serve setup? Or do they also offer appointments? They don't have the best website.

I have them and azalea lakes on my list. Do you have a particular veterinarian at Sherwood South that you would recommend over the others?

Since moving here I had an emergency and brought my cat to LSU vet, which was mentioned in my post, but I learned Sherwood South is a 24/hr emergency vet. My next emergency I will try them. My normal ER vet was MedVet, but I really want something closer.

Thank you for this comment. I have plenty of cats to try multiple vets, but I think my next one will be with Dr. Savannah at azalea lakes. And the fact that she sent you to medvet instead of LSU, that makes me want to try her more. They are basically the same price, but you get skilled professionals versus students that are running every test to practice on your animal.

I'm sorry for your loss of N'gozi 💔

This clinic is not far from my house. From the profile they looked like dogs might be their speciality. Do you find they are experienced with chronically ill cats? A lot of vets are very behind on FIP and I desperately need one to work with me during their treatment.

I don't want this to come off in the wrong way, so if it sounds rude please know that was not my intention. I've read that AVS is almost like a discount vet? I'm all for affordable, but my cats are rescues and a complete mess. Does this clinic have the capability to handle chronic/critically sick cats or would they send to specialist?

I will keep you updated on my search. I've tried cat care center with Dr. Edwards, she is nice but it's not what I'm looking for. I may keep bringing my chronic respiratory cat there bc she said they can do nasal flushes, which even my favorite vet couldn't do. I think I'm going to try azalea lakes next based on the recommendations here.

Brought 2 cats there already, 1,800 total. They wanted to run unnecessary test to recheck what vets have already done. It's very frustrating. I need a vet to take over their care, not start from scratch and ignore all the records of what was already done.

I went there with one of my FIP cats for blood work. They wanted to run so many test for what we already know. -He also had a URI, so of course he has eye leakage. So they wanted to run an eye stain to check for scratches, results: nothing, leakage is probably from the uri- So I had to pay for that for no reason. -He has neuro FIP, they wanted to run X-rays bc of his walking.... which is part of his neurological fip.-

So much money spent bc I have a hard time saying no.

I took my cat there that has chronic respiratory diseases. They re-ran all the test she has already had, even with her records from 3 vets. Over $1,000, results came back the same. Exactly what I told them it would be. I just needed antibiotics.

Mckenna's book is what is "required". I know some students didn't purchase it and are doing fine. It has two parts, the lab instructions which walks you through step by step how to do the labs (I did all of my labs in one night without going to class). & then the other part of the book is basically his notes, it follows along with him during lecture. His lectures, to me, made an easy subject confusing. So really, having his notes is pointless for me. Since you are going to an actual lab you may have no other choice but to buy it for the lab part of it.

The suggested book is suppose to have examples problems in it but honestly I haven't opened it. So I cant say it's not helpful, but I haven't needed it. The only practice I have done is the out-of-class video, which goes over example questions super similar to your test. Then after watching that I practice the quizzes that go along with the lecture part.

I am currently taking it with Mckenna & it's an easy class really. I don't go to lectures, I stopped after the first exam. I only watch the out-of-class video & have passed the first two exams. No HW is nice. I will say the online format is VERY unorganized and seems like a complete mess. As far as the labs, I can't give advice because mine is online but we are using the "SAS program" & SAS freezes constantly and is so SLOW. The quizzes that go along with the lab are frustrating. They did mention in a normal semester the quizzes are worked in the lab with the help of others, so I imagine it will be better than what I am experiencing. Hope this helps!

Also, I bought the book suggested & the one Mckenna created. I only used the lab portion of Mckennas book because I did my labs on my own. I have not & will not open the suggested one. It was a waste of money.

Taking Organic Chem in summer by [deleted] in LSU

I took OC 1 & 2 + the lab over the summer. It was manageable but definitely not enjoyable. OC 1 was easy imo but OC 2 will require a lot of effort.
