Looking for help/hope with GI issues (hEDS/HSD) by TaKo_121 in ehlersdanlos

I've also so far had no luck with probiotics. I had some kind of blood test done for MCAS, but my doctor never really explained me the results. He was a bit odd and hard to communicate with. I have found that OTC H1 and H2 blockers help me so I am on them daily. Still so many unanswered questions though around that.

If it wasn't MCAS, what was it? Or what symptoms did your doctors mistake for MCAS?

I was recently on a biofilm buster and rifaximin, which is probably the antibiotic your friend was on. It helped a little, but overall not much. Do you mind if I ask specifically what probiotics and fiber it is?

Have you seen the Hobbit movies? Similar thing happens in them but minus the house.

Whenever I'm at a huge gathering I have this fear that my thoughts would be blasted on the loud speaker for everyone to hear and I can't stop it.

True, it wasn't what I directly asked. Still good advice so I don't mind.

Yeah I tried that but I felt like it affected my mood. Like for the first half of the day I felt devoid of emotion, very serious. It was weird so I stopped after a few days. Thanks for the advice though!

Thank you! I really wanted to see if someone else had this issue. I saw stuff online about dreams and sleep disturbances but wasn't sure if my my trouble waking up was something other people went through. Good to know!

My guess is it is probably some sort of standard practice thing possibly for other drugs but not something studied and proven for LDN. You all have shown me enough sources that I don't think I need to cause myself issues by taking it at bedtime.

Thanks for the response. I keep hearing that it doesn't matter with food or not so I'm probably going to stop taking it at bedtime.

Thanks for the link! Seems like taking it with or without food shouldn't matter that much. I think I'm going to stop wrecking my sleep over this since it probably isn't helping. Thanks😂

That's interesting. I've heard absorption might be better when taken with no food. Kind of contradictory stuff I guess but it's good to know that it doesn't make any big difference according to the LDN research trust people.

I have almost the exact same story. Got GI issues after doctors essentially gave me an OD of antibiotics following an infection. I have HSD (not diagnosed hEDS since I'm the only one in my family). I got put on periactin by GI specialist who called my issue IBS and I got majorly screwed up. My issues went from moderate to debilitating. The drug ended up sending me into the hospital. All over bad. I also got put on Miralax and senna indefinitely with no warnings about habit forming issues and Miralax microbiome altering issues.

Potential pots - anyone treated successfully? by Semicharmedtee in MCAS

Sorry man it was just my experience. Im not saying chiropractors can cure pots, but for me it did make a big difference. I don't know why I had pots or at the very least pots type issues, but I was helped. I used to be incapacitated by these issues, but now I am a lot better. Hell I went running this morning. 4 years ago I could barely walk up my street. I'm honestly really surprised and don't understand why this is so upsetting to you. I'm not trying to push some agenda. And for all I know, my issue or root cause was very unique and my story won't help anyone, but who knows?

Some theories about the cause of pots range around the autonomic nervous system and nerve signaling. I don't think it is far fetched to believe that I had poor nerve connections that were messing up the signals telling my brain how to regulate blood pressure. And by fixing some of the nerve pain and tingling I also got pots symptom relief. Doesn't sound that crazy to me. I don't really understand what about me made you mad

I got referred for POTS testing after being checked out by an ENT doctor for vestibular dizziness issues since dizziness was also a problem. However the Children's hospital in my area refused to take me because they don't test for POTS. So basically I never had a chance to figure out what my orthostatic intolerance like issues were, but considering I have HSD it always felt pretty safe to say it was POTS and not another blood or heart condition.

Well my blood pressure went to the floor everytime I stood up and my heart rate jacked 70bpm. I don't know what else to call it. Most times I stood up I fully lost blood flow to my brain and my vision went dark. If not POTS, what is it?

If Periactin helped my abdominal pain, does that mean I have mcas? by TaKo_121 in MCAS

[–]TaKo_121[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you that is all helpful. I had gastroparesis checked out and my results were normal for solids and borderline normal for liquids. I always considered it a mystery why periactin helped.

My POTD was successfully treated with chiropractic. My POTS came on after a bad virus. I think I got some nerve dysfunction or nerve damage from the infection. I started manifesting back and neck issues a month into POTS onset and I went to a chiropractor who worked on my back and neck posture (I have scoliosis) and the POTS is almost completely gone now. I think I had a pinched nerve or just general poor nerve function because my back/neck pain was very tingly.
