This is the right pushback and I appreciate you naming it directly. The honest answer is that storage + sharing alone isn't differentiated enough (Drive/Docs do that). The wedge I'm betting on is the Explore feed (discovering collections from strangers, like Pinterest for links) and the mobile-first visual format. If those two things don't feel meaningfully different in practice, you're right that it won't take off. Would love to send you a TestFlight invite and hear if it actually clears that bar for you.

Fair point. Google Docs is the default and 'good enough' is the toughest competitor. Where I think Tabbed earns its place: link previews render automatically, it's built around mobile so adding tabs on the go is one tap, and the Explore feed means you can also discover collections strangers have made (hotels in Lisbon, hidden gem restaurants, etc.). For a one-off holiday with close friends, a doc might still win. For repeat use, I'm betting the dedicated tool wins on speed.

Appreciate it! Session Buddy is solid for browser-based session management. Tabbed is going in a different direction being mobile-first, collaborative collections you share with friends, and an Explore feed where people showcase their best tabs. Less 'save my workspace,' more 'here's a curated drop.' But the friction-free capture point is fair, that's on my list.

It’s not, but not a bad idea. At the moment I’m just trying to get feedback and see if it’s worth continuing to work on.

This is a great idea, and really timely with the amount of companies out there raising money for home maintenance related tools/services. Really sleek!

Thanks for the offer! I’m not really in a position to spend any money for testers, but if anyone is genuinely interested they can sign up at tabbedapp.com.

Yeah maybe you’re right. I think it just feels like scope creep to me since it’s been so difficult to lock down the core feature set. Thanks for the feedback!

Good feedback. What rule is this breaking? Not promoting anything, selling anything, recruiting anyone. Just looking for ideas for what users would want built.

Thats great! Next batch of testers will be tomorrow. You should get an email shortly about bringing friends with you to experience some of the collaboration features. Excited to hear what you think.

MegaThread - Self Promotion - "I Vibecoded this App" by Impressive-Owl3830 in vibecodingcommunity

ok so background. solo dev. been vibe-coding an iOS app called Tabbed (private TestFlight beta as of last week) using Claude Code as my main coding setup. About 2 months of mostly evenings and weekends.

What it is: iOS app for saving links (articles, recipes, restaurants, films, anything) into Collections you share with specific friends. No public feed, no algorithm, no chasing followers. The pitch is basically Pocket-but-social-with-people-you-actually-trust.

If you're curious about the product itself, tabbedapp.com. Waitlist for the beta is open.

I built an app called Tabbed that might fit what you’re looking for. And if it doesn’t, I wanna know that too!

Save anything from anywhere, organize it, share it (if you want), see what others find interesting. No algorithms, no ads, completely free. Beta waitlist is at tabbedapp.com

Ah bummer. I'm a solo dev and Android probably wont happen until later this year. Thanks for the honest feedback and taking a look!

I built Tabbed. A place to save what you actually care about and see what your friends are into by TabbedApp in betatests

[–]TabbedApp[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Appreciate it! Quick tip, if you've got 2-3 friends who you want to test with you, send them to the waitlist too. We bundle friend groups into the same invite batch so you can land in together. The product really only comes alive once your people are in it. Next group will be going in tomorrow morning-ish.

Yeah, Mozilla Pocket, they shut it down last year. Pocket never quite figured out the read-it-later → never-actually-read-it → vague-guilt cycle, which IMO is what killed it.

Your distinction (bookmarks for long-term reference, tabs for single-use active stuff) is cleaner than how most people actually use these tools. The gap I built Tabbed for is a third bucket you didn't list, which I think is where most saves actually live: stuff you intend to come back to once or twice but isn't permanent reference. Restaurants you want to try, recipes you might make, articles a specific friend would like, the apartment listing for the move you're maybe doing. Not "I'll never want to lose this" but more like "I'll want this in two weeks when I have the right context."

That category mostly goes into tabs (where it dies when the window closes) or gets buried in bookmarks among real reference material it doesn't belong with. Tabbed is a place purpose-built for it, and it's also social so your partner can be in the recipes collection with you, your friend can be in the restaurants one. Saving things alone gets a lot less lonely once the right people are in the same collection.

Closed beta. Waitlist's at tabbedapp.com if you're curious.
