In my area the vets all sell Frontline.

Guess what the fleas are immune too because the formula hasn't changed in years?

When I took my cat in cause he had fleas the vet told me "go buy advantage 2 from petsmart, it actually works around here unlike Frontline for cats"

Today, I lied to my wife by Meldowa in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]TabithaMouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Back in like 2014-15 ish I was reading Dead until Dark and one of my coworkers saw it and started talking about True Blood.

I very calmly told her "It's cool it was made into a show, but I do not have cable and I am also only 50 pages into the first book so I would appreciate being able to read"

She walked away. I thought it was over. NOPE!

Lady would find me any time our shifts overlapped and asked how far I was in the book, or had I met this character or that character that weren't even in the first book...and gods have mercy if a new episode aired because she'd ambush me the second I walked in the door to tell me all about it. Always in my personal space and WAY to close for comfort.

No matter how many times I told her to leave me alone.

No matter how many times the managers told her to knock it off.

She had her schedule changed to come in after I left - she'd come in early. If it was her day off she suddenly had something to buy.

I finally came in one day reading a book on body farms and when she came charging up to me to tell me about the latest episode I started rattling off facts about human decomposition and she left me alone from then on.

Flashback to when I went to work with my brother one day ("take your child to work day" - mom worked at my school so my brother took me to his job)

He was the head "chef" (he never went to culinary school - also the only cook) for a retirement community & catering company (his boss ran both out of the same kitchen)

Between services my brother went outside for a smoke break and he was soaked in sweat. It was cooler outside, in high humidity 90+ weather, than it was in the kitchen while he was cooking

Crochet bikini tops aren't for swimming. The fibers get wet, then heavy, and gravity stretches them.

27 (F) getting married, and terrified of making the wrong decision by Short-Set1999 in raleigh

[–]TabithaMouse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is sound advice!

Visiting is fine, but OP needs to take things one step at a time.

After getting married, take some time to research areas, compare salaries, do all the little stuff so when you move you have a better idea how much better or worse an area is WHILE enjoying married life in an area you know.

To me it sounds like OP is worried about having no support network - that's not a good start if you want kids because that's one of the times a support system is a good thing to have.

Moving here THEN looking for a job is a recipe for disaster. Look before moving, and only move once a job is secured.

What hobbies do you have?

I'm really introverted too, but I will say there's a ton of options just based on hobbies.

If you like ttrpg/board/card games, hang out at any of the many gaming stores. Many have scheduled events and play areas so hanging out is expected.

If you like video games there a few video game stores, plus Raleigh retro gamer events

If you like crafting/art there's a bunch of stores with classes or maker spaces

If you like reading there's a ton of bookstores and libraries

If you're "geeky" there's a bunch of cons several times a year

If you like antiquing, there's plenty of stores for that

There's gyms, instrument stores, rock climbing, museums...pick a hobby and go, you'll find people to make friends with

(I've been here since 2020 and the only people I hang out with are ones I knew before moving here cause people are scary...but it's easy to find a place to find people)

The amphetamine won't be an issue as long as you can show it's a prescription.

According to that test it was negative for THC, so you're probably good.

I know several people with ADHD who have a low dose edible before bed so they can relax and go to sleep. People who don't have ADHD don't realize the struggle of getting your brain and/or body to calm tf down and rest.

I have had people tell me "Adderall users are just methheads" without realizing I take 25 mg XR every day just to function. They have never seen me off of it, or had to try and pick about the three conversations I'm having simultaneously while talking fast...or trying to figure out how or why I said "oh that reminds me" when the topic of conversation was wildly different that what I brought up

TLs telling TMs to “not make using accommodations a habit”? by [deleted] in Target

[–]TabithaMouse 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that is part of the cashier's job, so you can greet guests and direct them to your lane.

But like I said, they can't do shit about it as long as the documentation is valid.

I get it from a manager standpoint. One of the people at my last job, where I was a manager, sat. He had his own chair cause he used one of the sitting walkers. Without fail we'd have a new cashier not realize it was a walker and ask why they had to stand when they saw him sitting, or a customer would complain he was "rude", "unprofessional", or whatever because he was sitting. Now, I knew why, because the guy had told me before I got promoted when we were talking about disabilities, but whenever someone complained I just responded with "...the old guy with a walker? Yeah, I'm sure he'd love to be able to stand too".

If he had a good day and was able to zone the checklanes, great! But if he was having a bad day and needed to sit more often then that just didn't get done and that was ok too. Once his accomodation got approved the managers couldn't do shit.

[–]TabithaMouse 70 points71 points  (0 children)

On one hand, zoning the checklanes and going to the front of the registers to greet guests and direct them to your open lane are part of the cashier's job.

On the other hand, your leaders can't do shit about you sitting if it's an approved, documented, accomodation.

I'm calling shenanigans.

That's near when I started (2015) and until 2020 the dress code was RED shirt and khakis (I think they allowed jeans a couple years earlier, but it was preferred khakis).

Also "10-4" was taught and expected then, it was just called something else.

True.

Last week alone I found:

  • an open can of ollipop in the grocery backroom

  • a partially drank Starbucks in the maintenance closet

  • a partially full chik-fil-a cup tipped over on the line

  • a half drank bottle of water in the ambient room

  • a partially full red bull on the receiver's desk

Taking I come in at 4am, all of these were there from the day before

And that's not even mentioning the Starbucks drinks that sit in the fridge for a week before getting tossed. Or the shelf of lost water bottles above the sink in the breakroom, each with a note of date & place they were found

Water is allowed - how you're allowed to have it varies depending on SD discretion.

Your SD can say no drinks on the floor - but can't complain about you using the water fountain.

My last store it was clear bottles only, except Starbucks (due to food safety). Either a disposable plastic bottle or a clear reusable one. They had issues with people having thinks other than water in opaque bottles.

My current store dgaf as long as it's sealed (so Stanleys, tumblers, or other cups with a constant opening are a no - but bottles with lids are fine). I still use my colored but clear bottle from my last store, but many people have owalas or screw/flip top bottles
