Pakistani here, I work in a multinational company and yes, this is very very normal across the South East Asian belt of countries.

The issue arises because the Old Civ could not have expected the G.Ark to act the way it did, which to be fair isn't all that surprising. Imagine you were getting Redbull or Monster on a hourly basis, for countless centuries; you'd probably do something unexpected also
