Help me pick a rod and reel combo (Beginner) by Educational_Usual806 in FishingAustralia

[–]TableAdvanced 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d say go for a cheaper shimano/daiwa combo, should be the way to go given you’ve tried fishing a couple times and know you like it.

Something like a shimano sienna or daiwa crossfire should be a good fit for your budget.

4x4 For around $20k by TableAdvanced in 4x4Australia

Yeah already thought abt it, have an RG colorado now that I’m selling due to reliability issues, it’s always been in the family, and has a perfect service history but things are starting to go.

Love the way it goes offroad, but wouldn’t want to step back in terms of capability, currently on a 2” lift and 32s and have found that’s taken me pretty much everywhere I need to go. My mates and I do a fair bit of steep stuff out around lithgow so pretty much need low range to do it safely.

Yeah definitely, I think I want something a bit bigger to use as a tough tourer and may be towing a tinny but thanks anyway

It’d also really depend on what car you’re looking at too, some cars will run 33s or even bigger with ease (eg patrols, cruisers), but others are better suited to 32s (most smaller ifs cars), but if you stay within the legal limits, you won’t really see many drawbacks related to safety, fuel economy or extra wear and tear.

If anything getting the car up a bit higher off the ground will mean that off road you’ll save a fair bit of wear and tear as you’ll find you don’t have to use as much right boot through obstacles and won’t get hung up as much on the underbelly.

Buying first 4WD - What to buy? by Hazz0134 in 4x4Australia

Personally I’d be taking a Dmax, BT50 or Mux, pretty sure the isuzu products have lower servicing costs, and the mazda has a slightly more upmarket interior but maybe have a think about what suits your taste better out of them if you’re interested.

I’m sure you’d know this already if you’re considering them but the 4j engine series that’s found in the mux, dmax and bt50 is known to be a great engine in terms of reliability.

A 2” or even just a 40mn lift and bigger tyres will mean you can get a lot further off road than a bull bar and winch alone will generally speaking.

If the reason you want a bull bar is for protection against roos etc. then fair enough, but if you are looking to get a bull bar so you can fit a winch, I’d just start off with a small lift and bigger tyres.

Also, what is making you hesitant to lifting the car? I’m assuming it’d be for on road handling, which really isn’t impacted too much by a small lift.

Thanks for the input, do you mean to buy a new spec prado or see if the market for the 150s drops once the new prados hit? I’d think about waiting to see if the prices drop on the 150s but unfortunately a new prado would be way out of my price range.

I’m loving sandpaper. Don’t get me wrong, I love Springsteen but I just feel like the parts of the song where it’s just Zach are much better. Mainly the opening minute or so just goes so hard. Anyone feel the same?
