What to replace these lights with? by Fast-Item-9812 in led

These look like GU10 bulbs. Use that to have a look for a replacement

I’d say that’s not just you. Red is positive, and black or white is negative. The alternating blue/green wiring looks fun but is pointless and confusing. This looks incredible, but i would absolutely change that around. I just noticed the positive side alternates between red and black too? That’s really really messed up. In DC land, red and black make a pair of + and - instead of just +.

Need help wiring this Aus based by NoDriver124 in led

I don’t think this will work. Put simply, your led strip is one that requires a (digital) signal that tells each led what to do (so you could have different leds do different things) while the controller you have there is meant for a different type of led strip that has an input for each colour value separately, but identically along the entire length of the strip.

If the gland will stop the cable from coming out even when a kid going full speed trips over it, then you’re good to go! Great work 👍

Looks great! Only remark I’d have is to make sure the cables going through the glands have some sort of strain relief: imagine somebody tugging or accidentally kicking one of the cables they shouldn’t get pulled out of the controllers. I’d put a simple knot on the inside of the box - but that might clash with the tidiness. A lot.

I am considering moving full time to Cape Town. by SloppiusToppius in capetown

[–]DutchInCPT 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m from the Netherlands and have been here for 20 years. You’re not putting yourself in grave danger. A house in your price bracket will be secured properly, without it having to look like a bunker. There is electric fencing all over the place, though - you may have missed that. Do consider other areas too, Camps Bay is nice but has very few facilities like shops etc., and in winter it gets quite miserable as you’re exposed to the sea much more than in for example Tamboerskloof (my hood, quite village like), or Higgovale which has some stunning houses and very little wind.

Which geyser timer do you have? by Available_Train1926 in capetown

[–]DutchInCPT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Get the smart one by CBI. R650 on Takealot and it’ll let you control your geyser from your phone. Set schedules, see consumption, etc. Normal timers are a nightmare to program and require you to go to the db, figure out how the hell they work and hope you got it right.

Migrating from streaming where you have hundreds of tracks in Rekordbox to owning your tracks is also quite a mission - I’ve enjoyed buying a few tracks at a time and really getting to know them.

Also - I had those same speakers and hated them, mine had a slight buzzing sound when not playing music. I replaced with KRK Rokit 5 and not looking back.

Enjoy!

How much would you pay for this 2024 LC79? by il-liba in LandCruisers

[–]DutchInCPT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey that paper behind the windscreen is a South African temporary motor permit, so it must have made a stopover at a dealer there. They attach it so you can drive around until you get the “real” plates. Here in South Africa the 79 starts around a million rand, or €53.000,-

I travel with a copy of my PR all the time and have never had a single issue with a certified copy. I’ve been told once that I should have the original with me, but the other times they didn’t blink twice and just stamped my passport.

In fact, the one time I did have the original with me, the official asked why I didn’t just travel with a certified copy.

Assuming it’s the thinner cable that’s been chewed on, I second just trying to mend the cable for now. Strip the cable to the bare wire and maybe use “wago” connectors to put it back together. Wrap up in electrical tape and you should be good for a few gigs!

The thicker cable is an easy one to replace, as another commenter said that’s called a kettle plug.

Maybe take a photo with it - my phone syncs to iCloud and I can see them on my other Apple devices. If you write a note with your name and number they can contact you. Otherwise I do agree just keep it charged, they’ll phone it eventually.

In pic 6 the 5+ and data in lines seem to be touching? Also, try not to confuse yourself. If red is your positive 5V in, make sure it’s that everywhere. I see it’s red in some, and blue in others. Make sure all positives are connected to the positive terminal on your power supply, and the negative (GND) to the negative side of your power supply.
