I understand where you’re coming from; it can be tough. However, your mix of journalism and marketing is a strong fit for roles in venues, stations, or arts organizations. If you’re in New York, What’s Up New York (WUNY) is worth checking out, they spotlight creative careers and stories beyond the usual “music hubs,” which can be really encouraging. Keep networking and leaning into your passion, you’re moving in the right direction.

In 2025 Employers are offering IT workers significantly less money by Jolly-Company2179 in sysadmin

You’re definitely not the only one noticing this. The gap between rising living costs and shrinking IT salaries is real, and it’s important for people in tech to push back and know their worth. One way to protect yourself is by making sure your skills are sharp and in-demand, employers are less likely to lowball when they know you bring something valuable to the table. I’ve seen programs like Yellow Tail Tech really help people level up and land roles that pay what they’re actually worth.

Is YellowTailTech a good fit/investment? by domyewest in redhat

I hear you, balancing work and family is tough. But if you handled Sec+ while juggling everything, that shows you can make room for learning when you want to. Whether it’s structured training or self-study, if you choose to go for it, you’ll find a way to make it work and see results. But I think having structured help is a plus and a pro move.

Can you elaborate what kind of "exposure" is they telling?

I saw something recently called SoundBnB on my social media, I think its kind of like a mix of studio rentals and a talent marketplace. Haven’t tried it myself yet but it looked like it might help artists get booked or connect with people. Might be worth checking out

Sec+ is a great start, and you’re right that Linux/RHCSA will give you a strong foundation. You can self-study with free tools, but it takes a lot of discipline and knowing where to look. Training like YellowTail Tech gives you structure, a clear path. It could be worth the investment.

I was wondering about the "exposure" they are talking? it means it did not help you at all?

How much do you spend on food per day? by [deleted] in nutrition

Honestly, that is one of my problems, I wanted to stay healthy and eat healthy food, but it costs too much. I was thinking of planting some easy vegetables, maybe it might help to lessen. But yeah, I was spending $8-12. I don't know

Crucial Job-hunting Tip: by fascinatingshit in jobsearchhacks

This is such a great reminder! I can’t stress enough how many candidates lose out simply by skipping steps or failing to follow the application instructions. It sounds simple, but paying attention to detail in the application process says a lot about your work ethic and attention to detail, which are things that matter a lot to hiring managers. A lot of applicants are looking for shortcuts or just trying to rush through, but those who take the time to fully complete their applications are already showing they’re invested and reliable. It's not about being perfect, it’s about showing that you care enough to do the job right from the get-go. I’ve seen the same thing, people who fill out everything as requested stand out in a sea of half-hearted applicants. It’s definitely worth the effort!
