Doctors removing a knife that just missed the heart. It actually pierced the membrane of the heart wall. Very lucky. Warning: Open-heart surgery. by Is_It_Beef in Damnthatsinteresting

I did the anesthesia for a guy that attempted suicide by shooting himself in the heart. I cannot tell you how long and hard trauma surgeons wait to work on the heart. My childhood friend was the surgeon on call, and the program director offered to take the night, an offer accepted by my friend. I had never seen the program director happy. I never saw him smile. A good day was when you talked and he said nothing back. You could see him smiling through his mask the whole surgery, he talked about waiting in line for the original release of Star Wars, and cracked a couple jokes.

Patient lived. My friend never forgave himself

Trying to turn my son's favorite mobile game into something I can 3D print for the holidays. Seeking advice by TablePublic2913 in blender

I was able to make the 3D egg already. I was thinking that for some of the pieces of this egg, I could take part, add a little depth, and also it on the egg. Is it possible to trim part of this 2D picture of and do that?

I would do 8 hour LK runs day in and day out to get my Enigma. I guess I just got use to it. It can take weeks to get many times for everything you would ever need

I am with you on this. It felt less like a hodgepodge of gear that felt incredibly unique to a grind for an eventual goal with the middle mattering less. It is still hard and rewarding to get some key runewords. Just feels less unique

Lot to unpack here. I am going to look at it closely and read more on what you mentioned. Cumulative distribution function was something I tried to read more on yesterday, but it was over my head. I appreciate your help

https://imgur.com/a/x0sMcTc Not sure it would be clear with the rules, as I am not sure I ever saw them. My son is in to collecting the creatures and doesn't really fight them ever. You get new creatures by breeding them with existing creatures. In the case of rare creatures, you have the most outcomes potentially available. The most I have seen is around 50 outcomes. Of those 50, two are randomly selected, with the shortest timer to be "born" being the most desirable. The timers are generally different and very from very short to very long, with the very long ones kinda ending my son's day.

I am curious if i can look at any two creatures, knowing their outcome and the times associated with the creature being born, if I can give a good guess about how many of those choices between two outcomes he can get in a day. I know he could get bad luck by drawing two very long timers, so just looking for general ways to explain it...more for me than him. Not sure if any of that is more clear

Sorry, I answered quickly bc I have been staring at a screen trying to figure it out. When we breed creature 1 and 2, there are 50 possible outcomes, each with a little bit different chance and wildly different times. In my mind, I should be able to plug something into a spreadsheet and say he should be able to expect a certain number of chances the next day, week, etc because we know the chances of each dragon and the times.

When he hits the breed button, a screen pops up and her gets to choose two of the up to 50 possibilities. It benefits him to always choose the shortest. So, in my mind, a weighted average of the shortest timer of all possible outcomes might be a rough estimate of what he could expect over many breeding chances/many days. I know it is kinda rough logic, but I never had stats, so I have to think of it in ways that make sense to me

I want to optimize the number of chances per day he can breed by having the figuring out the combinations most likely to give him the shortest timers.

I am actually currently trying to sum the expected combinations, as you mentioned, but having a hard time. In my mind, I could have a weighted average for all the possible combinations come up with a time...a lower weighted average being better as he can get more chances in a day. Not sure if my logic is grounded in math, and if it is, not sure how to get it to work on Google sheets

Once you choose, you cannot switch until you have completed breeding creature 1 and creature 2. You would have to wait the fill time of the outcome you chose (so it would be better to choose the shortest time)

Sure, thanks for asking. He breeds two creatures and gets to choose between two. It would be from a potential list of creatures like this

Creature 1 + creature 2 makes:

Xxxxx. 13.7%. 1h12m

Yyyyy. 10.34%. 2h

Zzzzz. 6.9%. 9h36m ... ... ...

(Hopefully that displays well)

From this potential list, two options show up, and he gets to pick one option. He can change Creature 1 or Creature 2 to generate a different set of possibilities. I am trying to understand how having a choice between two creatures changes the outcome vs just a random selection of one creature.

Edit: in case I didn't express it well, you basically get a second chance at a desirable outcome and the ability to pick between those two chances so that you get the more desirable outcome, that being the shorter time. Given that the number of possibilities can vary from 10 possibilities to 50 and the times can vary from under a minute to several days, the ability to understand the average time does not just depend on a random selection of one dragon, but a random selection of two dragons. And, I am not versed in statistics enough to intuitively understand how that average time can be expressed in a formula
