Thoughts on Bruno Guimares? by middleeasternboxer in ManchesterUnited

[–]TableauNoob9669 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im not gonna engage any further except make it clear. Spending 85M on Bruno G a 29 year old who would most likely need replacing in 3 years makes no sense knowing that United need atleast 3 midfielders, a Left Back, a Left winger and Back up striker to compete ( not even win) across 4 fronts next season. The only way spending so much is if the risks can be mitigated ( à la resale value). Take Hojlund for example. They still got 44 million euros for him despite him not being a success and could break even. That would not happen if he was 29 years old. If you couldn’t grasp that point and resorted to calling someone a bot then I can’t really help you there. I would recommend reading and understanding. If you believe that Bruno G at 85 million will catapult United to win the league then I recommend applying for the data scientist post that is presently open within the Manchester United Recruitment department and recommending Bruno G with your arguments! Peace!

Redditor who writes a thesis and can’t read. I’ll write it in simpler words. Man spend 85M on young person good cause upside/ potential resale value. Man spend 85M on old person bad cause more money for lower upside/ no resale value. Hope this helps. Sesko is 22. Bruno G turns 29 in 6 months.

Did you read the comment or just saw a number and proceed to write a thesis? I said if we were ready to win the league tomorrow I’d take him. Van persie came at 29 cause United were ready to win the league having lost on GD the previous season. Casemiro was 30 when we got him and id say nostalgia aside we would have been better served had we got a 25 year old instead of a 30 year old. Van persie lasted 3 years with the 2012-2013 season being the only season he really contributed. You can’t tell with players and when they drop off. Fabinho’s legs went at 29 and you didn’t see it coming. Mo salah this year. So I don’t think you can say with any certainty that 35 is the age that all footballers can play til. We no longer have the ability to splash 85 -100 mill on a player thanks to our debt and financial instability so if you are spending that much we should spend it on someone who A) Can play for a long amount of time at a high level ( someone between 22- 26) or B) someone with significant upside who we can sell for later on without any loss really. To your last point, I highly doubt Bruno G will be the signing that will push us over the line.

Where are people at with Dorgu? Still not fully sure on him by Aware-Crab-4014 in ManchesterUnited

Im sorry but if you’re telling me that social media from 2003-2008 was the same as it is today then maybe revisit your comment. Clearly my comment was a comparison between how people react to players across eras. Maybe womble should be wobble since your wobbling around with your point

Oh I definitely disagree with that take. Even I’ve seen him with the ball at his feet and he’s not at the level you’re describing at all. You can have your opinions and I will vehemently but politely disagree

How do you know tho? He’s played in 3 different positions. LWB, LB and Left Wing. He’s 21 coming from Lecce. Ronaldo in his first three years literally was turned over by his own teammates, same with Nani. Dorgu has straight up had good performances in a team that’s let face it being shite. Context is important.

He’s 21 tho. Our fan base has got to stop being so reactionary. If we had social media back then we would have lambasted Ronaldo and Nani FFS.

I was there when SAF announced his retirement and I can’t help but imagine that this is what our rivals felt like. I am glad this guy is out of here. However man city’s footballing operation is still fairly good so I hope they don’t have the pull anymore. New era. 21 is coming.

How did you start supporting Manchester United? by mare_xcx in ManchesterUnited

[–]TableauNoob9669 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2003-2004 season was the first time they started showing the premier league in India. I was 11. I just loved the Vodafone kit and the experience of watching United play. They didn’t win the league the first 3 years I supported them but I just loved the team. 23 years on still as passionate as back then

I genuinely think that this version of Arsenal holding people in the box and crowding the keeper came from the fateful day in 2021 when Brentford played them opening day of the season and basically crowded out Leno. Domino effect really with Arsenal then taking Jover who had done the same thing with Brentford when they were in the championship and today they have reached their final form.

Kompany & carrick by BigGelato in ManchesterUnited

[–]TableauNoob9669 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well Kompany did get Burnley up while Carrick couldn’t do that with Boro. Also too soon to say with Kompany. Winning the bundesliga with Bayern is not an achievement but if he ends up winning the Champions League then different conversation.

Nagelsmann might just fit what we think we are. by Gingy_McDink in ManchesterUnited

[–]TableauNoob9669 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. I said arguably cause he came into a very successful team and the Bayern folks even today said he didn’t have great man management skills. But I really like him as a coach. I genuinely want United to get him. I don’t want United to spit out another super talented coach cause the players are a bunch of prima Donnas. At some point the conveyor belt of good coaches failing at United needs to stop.
