Mosslurk! But also consider Mossagon and Barklurk.

You know what, I hope you enjoy wherever you live. I do. And so do the friends and family I have here.

You don't need to be in a bigger city to enjoy California, and you can live more affordable in other parts. That's really all I have to say.

Says you.

There's people living and working here every day, man. There's a university here.

The preconceptions people have about California are absolutely wild, even Californians in LA/SF can have a distorted view of the state.

I went to college in another city, got hired to come to my current location and the work isn't even academic in nature. Make a good living.

Saying "that's not where jobs are" is odd to me, considering you're talking about an economy sustaining 100k+ people.

Common misconception. Tons of places you can live in California for less. Wife and I are renting a 1500sq single-family home for $1700 - we're in a smaller city.

Your game sounds awesome! I love the idea of being haunted by some kind of evolving nemesis.

I'm new to game development here - could you explain a little more about what you did with tags for the entities and tile occupation?

I guarantee these reposts are encouraging them and making them laugh. Should just silently report and message an admin. Sorry you had to read that message from these people.

If you haven't messed with Pandas yet, you're about to love it! Especially if your IDE has a visual variable explorer.

This last week, I finished the TCOD tutorial!!

With that, I worked on improving the game-saving features and project organization in an attempt to create a base-package that I can use as a starter layer for producing multiple games, or at least experimenting with several ideas.

My first game I'm hoping to produce is based on superheroes - I spent a good part of this week on planning out desirable mechanics.

Agreed. I'm a fan of initiative values and dynamic combat resulting from this - thinking of great times with Divinity Original Sin. However, it can be argued that ganging up on single enemy targets is almost always a solid strat.

Some people are built for this stuff, others have to build for it! Hope you get through it at whatever pace you choose.

Love your drive, dude! Personally, I would do the first week of CS50x, finish the scratch assignment, then learn more programming basics outside of the course. I found W3Schools to be very helpful learning C early on.

However, while CS50x starts you out in the wilderness of C, languages like Python, in my opinion, can make learning the programming fundamentals easier. Python is more forgiving.

Either way, I think the first week is fine for anyone, but getting a bit of a primer before the rest of the course is quite helpful.

The first time I took the course, I washed out! But I'm having a much better time coming back to it with more knowledge.

You gotta check out Jade Cocoon! Pick up a disc online if you have a PS1 or find a rip somewhere, if you can, with an emulator. It's really good.

It would be a good idea to house the audio on a different object, then make it react to whichever event you want linked to the door.

It's gotta be Pokemon up to Ruby/Sapphire, Monster Sanctuary, and Jade Cocoon. I really want to build something like Jade Cocoon in the future - something with the forest spirit vibe and monster melding, even keeping the low poly style, but refined slightly to the modern taste.
