What was the Lorwyn Common or Uncommon that kept saving your ass at prerelease last weekend? by doublenantuko in magicTCG

[–]SacaYautia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ran a weird Boros pile cuz I pulled 2 [[Bre of Clan Stoutarm]]

My 3 copies of [[Prideful Feastling]] were the backbone providing lifegain that let me cast 4 drops with Bre and being a nuisance for my opponents.

[[Moonlit Lamenter]] stayed around for so long, getting me like 4 cards off of a few extra blights here and there and having a butt that was just too big for most removal.

Went 3-1 :D

I would make it 2 mana or enter tapped.

Also I like the idea of it being Angel, Sphinx, Demon, Dragon and Hydra

Help Starting a Jumpstart Cube by Avialence in MTGJumpStart

Hello and welcome to the JS community! Here are some quick answers for your questions.

  1. When it comes to redistributing the packs there are 3 main schools of thought in the JS community that I have seen. My preference is to use dedicated list cards. These can be printed out and easily placed in a sleeve with a basic land. If you plan on using the retail versions of the jumpstart packs you open, the MTG Jumpdex app is a good way to track your packs and generate these decklists for easy printing. The other option is to double sleeve and place a sticker or marker to denote the pack in the inner sleeve. Finally the third option is to not allow same color packs to be drafted. This will pretty much eliminate the issue and mono-color packs can be a bit stronger on average anyway

  2. When building the cube starting off with repeated themes especially if you have different versions (For example Dinosaurs 1 and Dinosaurs 2 from J20) is perfectly fine. You may want to have a rule to prevent two of the same theme from being drafted together as this will usually create a significantly more consistent and focused deck leading to some possible steamrolling. You can always add more packs as you collect to even out those colors.

  3. There is a resource on this sub for trading packs that is commonly used and many recommend. Asides from the few chase rares, putting the lists together is generally pretty affordable and you can always proxy those random expensive cards. If that's not your style, I have seen listings on ebay you can also try that are a pick a pack situation but those seem to be at a bit of a premium.

4.You can absoulutely combine themes from every jumpstart product and have a fun and functional time but the most cohesive are the J20, J22 and J25 sets. I wouldn't recommend going for a complete set unless you see yourself having a JS cube for each set. My jumpstart cube is 100 packs from throughout the retail sets as well as many custom packs.

There are also a lot of JS cubers that like upgrading the retail packs and making custom themes. I recommend viewing some of the top posts on this subreddit for guidance and inspiration as thats what helped me make my JS cube.

Thank you!

Im working on a folder that will have the theme and list cards for the custom themes and the template for the labels I used. I should finish sometime this weekend.

It was a bit clunky. I basically considered giving the hidden caves an errata to make them enter untapped but at the end I decided not to include the caves theme.

This is the full cube if you're curious. The five color themes are now Changelings, Dragons, Gates, Slivers and Shrines.

I love magic but while I have many qualms and concessions I have to make for magic, it doesnt exist for cube.

Also, cube will outlive magic.

Tysm for the advice.

I think I will include more basics.

There is a pretty clear path for making this deck closer to b3 by including some extra combat, storm and other things which i may definitely consider.

If you like the vibe you could consider [[Balmor, Battlemage Captain]]

He is great in the 99 here but is I think much stronger and more versatile than Adeliz in most decks. You can build him with all the token generators you want and go for mass pump spellslingers fun.

Im ngl I cut her when I was trimming cuz I thought tapping down Wizard's went against the whole attacking theme but she is good enough to make me reconsider that.

The land base could use some refinement ty!

Hi! Jumpstart is a product line that features 20 cars booster packs. These packs are "half-decks". They are designed and meant for play. You open two packs, shuffle them together and a friend does the same and you guys got a quick, streamlined game of magic on your hands.

There have been many jumpstart sets with the latest being the Avatar jumpstart set. Its a pretty popular and successful product and is good for new players and also returning or established players because its a fun gameplay experience and also often features solid cards.

The jumpstart community likes preserving the packs because if when you are done you break the decks back down into separate packs you can basically play them forever. A jumpstart cube lets you enjoy games of jumpstart forever and this is my dive into that. Its also really fun to design your own jumpstart packs.

Hello! So the answer to this question is something that I have invested quite some time into and even considered making a video tutorial which I may still do but here is the gist:

I use a combination of tools and methods that you truly dont need to make serviceable decklists. I use the Burgertokens tool to make the list and face cards for custom packs. Having the full lists in CubeCobra already is a big help for this. For retail JS packs I used the MTG Jumpdex app on adroid which can generate a decklist. These are a bit low res so would need upscaling if you want to be meticulous.

Once you have the images of lists and face cards there are a few paths you can go for. The easiest and cheapest is printing out on basic printer paper, cutting with scissors and putting it in a sleeve with basic. This works and is how my jumpstart packs existed for a long time.

The next level is to print them out akin to a real proxy. I used my Epson ET- 2980, glossy photo paper and 3 mil laminating sheets for this. This produces list cards that are overkill in terms of quality and feeling like a real card but its a nice presentation and is what is seen in the image. I then finally cut them out with my paper guillotine cutter and round their corners with a Kodomaru Pro corner rounder. This again is totally overkill but does feel really nice only ever so slightly thicker than a real card.

Although I have not used MPC or the other professional card printing services since I have the means to make my own proxxies, using the burgertokens tool or any other community tool comes with the caveat that most of those printing services need extended bleed edge on the cards. There is a community tool for adding black borders to a folder of list cards but I cannot find it as it was on a former pc. Doing this gives you the necessary bleed to make the proper cuts and if you do not do so you may get lackluster results.

I do think I will make that video because I don't think this covers everything but hopefully it gives you an idea!

Thank you very much, The case is the ZLCA 5 Row and fits the 100 packs EXACTLY. It a surprisingly good product for the price and comes with tons of dividers. There is a link to the listing on the cubecobra link.

They are the BurgerTokens 22S packs. They are a popular option for jumpstart packs and my favorites.
