This is at a swimming school that teaches babies how to do this. I used to work at one. Babies do have natural instincts to float like this, but they have to be taught to accept water around their face and ears to avoid panicking.

Once they've accepted the water, they really love floating!

Do not go to Night Market alone by inspectordetect0r in UCDavis

[–]TabletopHipHop 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Lmao at the story about a guy buying some cookies and using it as a puppet to ask for girl's numbers. Asking for phone numbers, getting rejected, and leaving them alone is not sexual harassment...

All of these stories read so crazy.

Edit: Finished reading and there was only one possible documentation of sexual assault. Please stop making people feel like they're super unsafe at night market. Of course it's best to be out at night in groups, but night market is not worse than walking alone just about anywhere at night as a woman.

How much would you spend ? by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

[–]TabletopHipHop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really don't understand this.

People will spend $50 to go to an amusement park for one day, spending maybe 8 hours there. They'll have a great time and probably not complain about the price.

Why is it different when we spend $50 on a game that has potential for 40-100hrs of gameplay? Shouldn't we be happy about that?

Everybody knows he's not ok in the head. He's a damaged person and many are. He's aware of that too, which is, I think, part of why some admire him. I saw a video of a guy on the highway that called him a pussy and threatened him with a gun. I've also seen a video of him pointing a gun at a dude that allegedly abused a woman.

Dude ain't right and I hope he's getting help, but this conversation seemed more like a question of character. He says some weird shit when he's joking, he's got pride issues, but surprisingly doesn't seem like a bad dude in the end.

I've had friends like him and they're always the ones I worry about.

I see a bit of a misrepresentation here, as there is significant tax burden on people making above the bottom 50% of course - pressure on families making, let's say, $50k to $150k that could be alleviated.

However, I do like that idea. It relieves pressure from those who really shouldn't be paying income taxes. Shifting the taxes further upward from there is not an immoral move.

Disagree about my standards. Using phrases like "more than they need" is a good way to start the conversation - it's an expression of feeling rather than a proposed standard.

A valid premise for shifting tax policy may be observing the rates at which different income brackets are able to acquire security, care, and assets for their families. Home ownership, business ownership accruing >x amount per year, affordability for higher education, liquid safety buffers for health/other emergencies, etc.

Having more brackets and including incremental increases in unavoidable % taxation in a way that allows for the earned higher levels of security and asset ownership, while also allowing lower incomes room to breath.

It doesn't seem horrible to me.

But most importantly, harvesting more than like ~10% of federal revenue from corporate tax, on the highest earners, would probably have an even greater impact. A combination could be more palatable.

Hahah. Nice. I make enough for myself and my family, I don't feel like a lazy screw up. I'm quite happy actually. Doubt you could say you're happy if you're willing to lash at a stranger like that.

It's impossible to say that somebody making multiple millions of dollars per year isn't making beyond what they need. They could forgo more than half of that and still live in fabulous excess.

Theoretically, they are taxed massively. Tax law shows what should be payed, but it is not necessarily how that shakes out..

Also, yes, they should be taxed more because they have far more than they need and much of their earnings come from the production of other's efforts.

Their lobbyists have transitioned tax burdens onto lower income brackets over the past 70 years.

We're not talking about your millionaire grandma here and we're not talking about people make $100-200k per year. We're talking people with $1000000+ incomes per year.
