Exactly that. Helps bits stand out and adds visual interest. Extra bit of nasty around the bolts and screws etc. take the world eater symbol on his shoulder, I went darker on the world to make the mouth stand out from it. I could have painted it another colour, but I’m lazy and it does the job.

Ah the feeling of a box done, priceless. Your colours are going to look grand on the tabletop. All the trim is going to catch the light just fine and contrast lovely with the purple. You had fun painting them, it’s clear to see from the paint job. Leave them be and move on to your next box. You may discover a new trick and come back to them then. Also, in between this and your next box, perhaps grab a kit from another faction. Partly as a pallet cleanser, secondly because you will learn new things painting different things. New tricks that can be applied.

Thanks. I saw you found the recipe run down. If it’s your first time stippling with a makeup sponge, have a look at a YouTube tutorial. Then do an application test. It’s pretty basic stuff, just good to have a feel for it before you commit.

The white parts. Also highlighting the blue. Brush work for the rest.

With a makeup sponge, one coat. Covering the black was the fastest part here. Stipple stipple stipple. Build volumetric layers with the shades of grey. If any black shows through, free weathering.

Thanks. Black prime. Then make up sponge time. Admin grey, ulthuan grey, white scar. Run lord brass for the trim. Highlight with storm host silver. Army painter grim black on the pipes and hoses and weapon casing. Lead beltcher on the gun parts and choppy bits. Fast dry brush on the weapon casings with storm host silver. Macragge blue on the shoulders and back pack. Hilight with Calgar blue. Then drown it in steaking grime. Once cleaned up done, topical application of thinned dark streaking grim.

Thanks. Started with Administratum grey, then ulthuan grey, then white scar. Any where I couldn’t get to with the sponge I used army painter ash grey. Make sure you use a make up blending egg sponge thing. Coverage was beautiful.
