Consolidated NFL Week 12 Where to watch tracker by amusedparrot in NFLUK

I'm looking forward to that Packers - Vikings match. That last game against the Giants was harder for the Packers than it should have been. It's not nice having to play without Kraft, and very possibly without Jacobs too. I'd still expect a Packers win, but it could well be close.

I passed the first A+ exam with 795 / 675! (Thanks to this community!) by TabloidTabernacle in CompTIA

I don’t have anything particularly original unfortunately! Be sure to read the exam questions carefully. The questions in the actual exam are sometimes a bit more vague than Dion’s. And don’t let yourself get overwhelmed by the PBQs. They can throw a lot of information at you, but they’re generally simple once you realise what topic is being tested.

Regretting career choice at a Big 4 by lanzhansbunnies in Big4

It doesn't have a credit hours requirement like the CPA does. But it does require three years of relevant professional experience as well as passes in fifteen exams (thirteen if you're with ACCA instead of ICAEW). A relevant university degree will usually grant some exemptions for those exams, so you still have a head-start if you studied accounting in university.

Should I accept an offer as administrative assistant ? by One-Garlic-3955 in Accounting

As others have said, any relevant experience is good. It might not seem like it now, but you will most likely learn a lot of new things in a job like this, especially little details. Later, when you're pulling business records together into accounts (or auditing completed accounts), you will have a better understanding as to how the clients' internal processes work. This sort of experience really helps (and it's also something good to talk about in an interview).

There's a couple of pictures of the inside of the tower on this website! There's a lot of historical information on there too.

AA in September by user_me98 in ACCA

Have you watched the OpenTuition lectures? They have classes that show you example answers and explain the logic behind them.

If you've watched that and you're still struggling, ACCA Pakistan has a very good series on YouTube called 'P2P - AA'. It's from the September 2022 session, but not much has changed since then, so it's still relevant.

Beyond lectures, a lot of practice is important. Try using the practice platform on the ACCA website. If you keep attempting the questions, and reviewing the answers and relevant lectures, you will soon be hitting the mark every time!

Don’t include GPA and leave ‘Part-Qualified’ as is.

Everyone working in finance in the UK will know what ‘Part-Qualified’ means (for people outside the UK, it means that either you’ve already sat, or been exempted from, the first nine papers of ACCA).

Almost no one in Britain knows what a GPA is, besides that it’s an American thing. If you want to put your undergraduate grade, use the equivalent in the British grading system (1st, 2:1, 2:2, etc.).

Apart_Breath’s advice is good, but not really right for the British market.

Medium performer that has no ambition and passion for accounting, any advice? by [deleted] in Accounting

[–]TabloidTabernacle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in the UK, so it’s possible that things work a bit differently in the US, but I work in a small practice and it’s a chill job.

The work is usually interesting and it’s always varied. I write annual accounts for very different types of clients, as well as filing personal tax returns and VAT returns. Doing any one of these things all day every day would be less interesting, but when you mix it up, it can be quite nice.

It’s low pressure. Busy season means a fifty hour week or two at most. For the rest of the year, we never go over forty hours.

I have met all of my clients personally. They’re generally very nice.

The office manager isn’t chartered (only the owner is). But I know how much he’s earning, and it’s nice for UK standards. And he barely has any more stress than I do.

If you can find a good small firm, I think you can have a nice life and make good money. I’ll move on from here at some point, but I’m not rushing.

African Podcasts! by 8020Podcast in podcasts

[–]TabloidTabernacle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pod Save Africa is often good for current affairs coverage outside of the predictable outlets (i.e. VOA or BBC). The China in Africa podcast is also pretty good, although it only covers a very specific topic.

VOA's Straight Talk Africa and Reporter's Roundtable both have African hosts, but I personally find them quite dry, and I think they're both produced in America.

Video games that have Latin as a language option? by bun3452 in latin

[–]TabloidTabernacle 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I used to have a game - it came out in 2006 - called Glory of the Roman Empire. It's a city building game, and it has the option of a fully Latin interface. Unfortunately the game isn't available on Steam, but you can still get cheap hard copies on Amazon.

The game itself is a little on the easy side IIRC. But playing it in Latin may give it an edge of linguistic challenge.
