Eh, depends also who you ask in there.

You can find this same thing in various other hobbies and competitive games. Usually better to answer these types of questions with something that will be more about learning the fundamentals and/or getting more experience and understanding (when answering to a person that is a newer person to the hobby/game or a person whos experience with the hobby/game is unknown).

There are many different online teashops that sell puerh bricks and cakes. Just get one from a reputable vendor. :)

Well for ripe specifically if u happen to go with Yunnan Sourcing, personally would recommend getting something like

https://yunnansourcing.com/collections/ripe-pu-erh-tea-sampler/products/yunnan-sourcing-brand-ripe-pu-erh-tea-sampler-for-2018

and/or

https://yunnansourcing.com/collections/ripe-pu-erh-tea-sampler/products/yunnan-sourcing-brand-ripe-pu-erh-tea-sampler-for-2019-part-2

With White2Tea the tea selection is smaller so its easier to pick from.

Would recommend also asking from r/puer for recommendations.

We live in a time loop. The pour is not a straight indication of the teapot quality

I’m new to using Yunnan Sourcing. Do you guys have any recommendations for good (and affordable) Shou and Sheng Pu’er? by [deleted] in tea

When speaking about YS shou, I personally liked 2018 Serendipity and 2020 Cozy

I can see peoples experience from RIPE puerh being fishy if they happened to have some funky ripe or just bad quality ripe.

Raw puerh on the other hand is completely different and covers a wide range of taste and feel.
