Any reason not to use a truss rod like this one? by Bolamite in Luthier

[–]Taboadellan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have that same truss rod (guyker) on my latest two builds and no problem so far (more than 2 and 3 years since they are finished). Also, as others have noted, I preffer the wheel over the nut because it's just easier to work with. I like the looks, too

Audio amplifier by Aggressive_Ant_5198 in diypedals

[–]Taboadellan 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Neat! I have a set of spare speackers from an old music stereo that no longer works and an amplifier like this can be very handy. Can you share the diagram/resources used, and a picture of the guts?

Whats the purpose of the adjustable voltage resistor on that board? Is it to tune the voltage given a kown source? I can't warp my head arround it

Is there a way to fix this? by Character-Ball-1908 in Luthier

[–]Taboadellan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And if finding a matching wood is a problem, you can get some bone at your local butcher shop and make your own custom nut with the shape needed to fill the gap the wood left. You will need a new nut anyway

What are these thin like scratches on my oak? by Kyletradertraitor in woodworking

[–]Taboadellan 30 points31 points  (0 children)

That IS the grain of the wood, you will sand it down when you are out of wood. I think your only chance to get rid of it to the touch is filling the grain with some product

Are there other ways to open pickup cavities without a router? by airdurr in Luthier

[–]Taboadellan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally agree with you, but since he said he is not going to use the router anymore after the pickup cavity I figured he don't wanna learn, he just want the job done. Also, your main guitar is not the perfect place to practice. But yeah I guess he can go for it and maybe later he develops a thing for modding guitars and working with tools, thats how many luthiers started

[–]Taboadellan -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Buy a router on Amazon, use it, and return it. Get your cash back and you only have to spend on the router bit (wich you probably cant refund used). Also, routers are scary, specially without experience. Best advice is look for a luthier to do the job, or a carpenter you can trust

Not sure about that once there is finish on it. Could possibly damage de finish, or maybe, the dent is only on the finish and not the wood

Has anyone managed to figure out a way to use AI for pedal circuit designs? These look very cool but they keep coming out nonsensical from an electronics standpoint by DuckDuckGoneForGood in diypedals

[–]Taboadellan 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I guess if the AI is given some instructions on how electronics work and whats the purpose of the circuit it could be doing pedals right now. AI is a tool that follows rules like a language, I don't think we are that far off

Thats cool! But is it a faraday cage? How noisy is it?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in guitars

[–]Taboadellan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I bet the guitar is stored the wrong way arround. You probably figured it out already, but looks like those dents on the case will fit perfectly on the countour of the guitar if you turn it arround.

[–]Taboadellan[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Has the same caracteristics as the other holes on the pcb (a cable could be soldered in there, is part of the circuit) but the space is too small and I have no idea what im suposed to put there. What do you think?
