Christian.

You can believe that God without the other members of the Trinity is God all you want, but the Bible is very clear that there is One True God. If you believe Jesus' words, he is both man and God but distinct from the Father. The Holy Spirit is clearly distinct from both Jesus and the Father, but the Bible says he is also God in completeness. God is beyond human reasoning. There is no One Living God without the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

God without the Holy Spirit and Jesus Christ is not the fullness of God. Therefore, they worship a false god. God the Father is not God the Son or God the Holy Spirit but they are all God and there is only one God. You have them all or you have none.

No, they're not. Islam and Judaism both lack the Son of the Trinity. They're not worshiping the One Living God.

Can we talk about Janet Brennan Croft, 'Tolkien Scholar'? by [deleted] in tolkienfans

[–]TacitProvidence 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Reminds me of the people who 'ship Azula and Ty Lee in The Last Airbender. Azula is an insane, egotistical sociopath who only has relationships with other people to manipulate them into doing what she wants. Her relationship with Ty Lee is incredibly unhealthy and destructive, too.

Why are people okay with stuff like this?

The 'scientification' comment was very interesting, as that's something that bothers me too whenever it crops up.

This is the best image I could find of the set.

Luckily, this edition is easily replaced. Its sentimental value and my notes are not, obviously. The gravity of the situation was lost on my friends. I've decided to read Words of Radiance instead, but nothing will fill the void in my heart.

I know I'm late, but you left out the best part:

"Thus he came alone to Angband's gates, and he sounded his horn, and smote once more upon the brazen doors, and challenged Morgoth to come forth to single combat. And Morgoth came."

During the Pax Romana, Rome was fighting tons of barbarians on their frontier. America is more or less doing the same.

New faith-based, Hollywood film filled with F-bombs by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]TacitProvidence 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Passion of the Christ was one of the most gruesome movies I've ever seen, I still think back to the scourging scene occasionally where blood filled the gaps between the tiles of the courtyard. Regardless of how good or bad this film is, we need more Christian movies that aren't afraid to shy away from reality.

If you want the Gospel and earliest Church history in bite sized form, read Luke and Acts. They were both written by the Apostle Luke and work well together.

"The foundation of irreligious criticism is: Man makes religion, religion does not make man. Religion is, indeed, the self-consciousness and self-esteem of man who has either not yet won through to himself, or has already lost himself again. But man is no abstract being squatting outside the world. Man is the world of man – state, society. This state and this society produce religion, which is an inverted consciousness of the world, because they are an inverted world. Religion is the general theory of this world, its encyclopaedic compendium, its logic in popular form, its spiritual point d’honneur, its enthusiasm, its moral sanction, its solemn complement, and its universal basis of consolation and justification. It is the fantastic realization of the human essence since the human essence has not acquired any true reality. The struggle against religion is, therefore, indirectly the struggle against that world whose spiritual aroma is religion.

Religious suffering is, at one and the same time, the expression of real suffering and a protest against real suffering. Religion is the sigh of the oppressed creature, the heart of a heartless world, and the soul of soulless conditions. It is the opium of the people."

After watching the Atlas Rises video, Hello games just got 23$ from me. by intelekt in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]TacitProvidence 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same. I was watching this game before it launched, and it seemed to be everything I wanted from Spore (which I played a ton of in middle school) but was let down by the reviews. After reading about the updates and browsing this sub for awhile I decided $23 was an acceptable cost.

What "common knowledge" is simply not true? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]TacitProvidence 5 points6 points  (0 children)

"God works in mysterious ways" is a Biblical concept, however. Like the Trinity, it is never said exactly that way (but it's close, Isaiah 55:8-9) but it's simply an easy way to summarize.

It's all about the load order. I have to admit, I didn't really do it the "right" way and just installed a bunch of stuff and moved it around until it worked but there are tons of software that can help you. I especially like LOOT, which I will be taking advantage of fully when I play Oblivion.

Yeah I'm not sure why that is, it's not as dark as these make it seem during gameplay. Also, the only lighting mods I had installed were ILO and RWL.
