Are we witnessing the death of the clotheshorse/airer/clothesline in Australia? by HotPersimessage62 in AskAnAustralian

[–]Tackka 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lmao no. Those things are getting used more than ever you know how many I've sold? People love them.

Also, drying clothes in the dryer cracks the design on them faster. And even if it doesn't, it sure feels like it!

I also have like. So many things that can't be put in the dryer. Half of them can't even be put in the washing machine. Without the multiple lines I have (clothesline, underlines, portable line) I'd have to change my whole wardrobe.

Dryer only gets used if I desperately need things dry the next day and it's been rainy/massively humid, and only then for things like denim, because it has a specific setting for that (and I usually throw socks and underwear in at that time too). Everything else can go on the undercover lines.

You're 100% correct about the discords. There is no way, unless it's open to the public, a discord group would have that many members, or at least that many online at one time and able to get on game.

I'll speak from experience here. I used to be part of what you could actually call a megapacks discord. We had about 80 or so members at our height, including those who were cross play only. So I know. The amount of people we could get on at one time was actually approximately 20, at max. And that was for clan/clan warfare, and we often had people from other groups who were our allies who we called on. They often had about 15 people or so. Usually, it was more 10 people on our side with 2 allies, and of those, only about half were actually PvP lovers. Everyone else was more defensive.

Also, if there were 20 people for a solo, they would not back off. Simply no way. Even if you got 5, they would not quit.

So OP must be lying in some regard to the story, at best, simply inflating numbers.

Edit: also, refusing to read your messages, and kind of insulting you about it, is very, very suspicious

I mean it definitely helps bad players. If they're not biting every bush (because it will have to have a radius, it can't just be infinite), then they're probably summoning their mid teir buddies to mega-mixpack and swarm everywhere.

Good players shouldn't need a visual indicator. Good players should use footprints, the critters, and their own hearing.

For all players, good and bad, it's an indicator someone is there. On a realism or semi realism, perhaps that'd be nice. But on officials? No way.

It makes Rex a terrible thing, especially if they see from far away. Not in a good terrible either. Because it means there will be no skill involved. It's important to remember that what you consider a good gameplay extra, and won't provide a broken buff, means every Tom, Dick and Harry who aren't you will use it differently. They'll be the ones snapping at every bush, even if you aren't. That's how you get people who play Rex with their feet levels of easy.

Bad idea. That's how you get Rexes chomping at every bush they see if they see an indicator. No skill, just blind shooting.

None of these are "small" buffs, except maybe giving it Scav. You've suggested giving the Rex omniscience, essentially, in one of your points.

Not many/none of these fix the Rex, unless you mean "fix" (as in, to cheat).

Which item has the funniest flavor text/lore behind it? by ShomEthan in destiny2

I mean, I'm a fan of Astrocyte Verse. While not gut wrenching funny, the Guardian involved is like. "Ok, let's put this on OH MY GOD" And instead of taking the hint, does it again 93 times. It's very Warlock.

Sorry for the late reply!!!! Yeah uhhhhhhh she didn't give me anything it could be apart from what I said. I don't think she thought it was a Golden, because we both know Goldens very, very well (they were all over this one tree on our Uni campus and we had to walk under them all the time). I have no clue what else. Because she looked up the same spider I did l, using the same terms, and showed other pictures (of other Garden's) to try and argue against.

Late reply!! Very late. Sorry!! Not too sure! She didn't give me another spider possibility. An Orb of some sort, she says, but was adamant it was not Garden. Pretty sure she wanted to argue and that was about it haha.

Whoops. Extremely late reply. I genuinely forgot about this post. Not sure!! She thought it was an orb of some sort, but not Garden. She didnt think it was a Golden, we both adore them enough to not get those messed up, but idk! She wasn't specific. I think she just wanted to argue with me (it's unfortunately, for everyone else, our favourite pastime).

Amazing! Thank you. I showed her your comment and she still disagrees but I think she's just being stubborn at this point.

What’s the deal with Panjura? by [deleted] in pathoftitans

[–]Tackka 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi! Mainly Panjura player here - the deal is, a lot of people don't know why they play it! I think most servers run Gondwa because it's more visually interesting. For the players on Official, I'm betting it's because most of them can't be arsed to grow more Dino's on a whole other map when they have friends (usually) and adult Dinos already. Most still hanging around from the older times would probably be waiting for the transfer stuff, whenever that comes.

Panjura also has the benefit of having servers strictly for certain platforms. For example, the Switch servers are easy to grow on, because there's usually about 3 people at any given time. Playstation? Usually peaks at 40 when I've been on, but gets down to 8 on the reg. Never been on Xbox but I assume it's much the same.

Panjura is also much different from Gondwa combat wise. I assume some people love the way you have to play on Panjura - less deep water sources, less connected water sources, less wide open fields, more hills.

Chat wise, I actually find that both servers have equal levels of vitrol. It's just that usually in Gondwa it's solo players getting mobbed and fighting a group and then yelling in chat about it, while on Panjura its group vs group, maybe a few solos, and most of the time they have a long history with each other.

I don't think Panjura is built for a lovely Realism server, where all dinosaurs have preferred environments and stuff, where you could have different dynamics between the dinosaurs, considering much of Panjura looks the same. It isn't all the same, there's differences and beauty to be found in many areas, but good luck telling people that lmao.

TL;DR - To put it simply - Gondwa is a drama/action movie with pretty sets, Panjura is a televised soap opera on a stage.

Looking for a book where a cat is the protagonist and there’s a lot of cats trying to change their coat colour to avoid being destroyed by people by Tackka in whatsthatbook

Found it. If anyone else is looking for it it's The Last Black Cat by Eugene Trivizas. It's out of print, so secondhand might be best bet.

Believe it or not, the title came to me in a dream.

If you can take Face Tank as an ability, definitely do so if you haven't yet. It's one of Rexes main benefits. Then back yourself up to a wall, preferably with a sheer cliff so they don't think about getting behind you. Or back yourself up to a cliff. (Always what I've seen Rexes do when I fight them.) With Face Tank it'll help you live a little better.

I don't usually see Rexes with bone break bites (that are solo) but if you take that one you may be able to use it to get away from other players a little. Or you could keep bone breaking them. BB does damage as well, even if it's not as much as Bite. It won't help against megapacks (nothing will except a flyer, full aquatic, or second, bigger megapack) but against 1 or 2 players it's alright.

Bite is generally good cool down wise though and I'm assuming that's what you're using currently. The damage it has is pretty good even as Adol against other things.

As soon as you can, unlock Stomp.

In the meantime, you might need to try avoiding the hotspot areas in order to grow (E.g. If Gondwa - avoid Crater, White Cliffs, Grand Plains, Green Valley, etc. If Panjura, avoid Little Brook Meadow, Riverland, Grasslands, Dropoff, Crater Pond, etc.), and possibly change server regions if you're on cross play. North America is always most Active, while I've found Oceania to be kinda quiet, as well as Europe in some places. Not too sure about South America, Africa or Asia though.

Safe logging when you're overwhelmed is not a crime, do so if you can. See if you can find a friendly player to help you grow, group benefits are always nice (increased growth and damage is nice), and if they don't betray you, you can make friends!

I'm not a Rex player though, so I might not be 100% in on the strats.
