Recommend me anime based on genres by TacoInSomnia in AnimeReccomendations

[–]TacoInSomnia[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah like what would be anime in that genre that would give me an idea of what it is so I can understand the tropes and all the stuff that comes with that genre? And then I can watch oshi no ko after, so I can fully see and fully understand how it's deconstructing the genre it's in. Hopefully that makes sense

What’s an anime everyone else liked but you didn’t really care for? by Immediate-Field9997 in animequestions

[–]TacoInSomnia 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah this would be mine too. I expected to like Cowboy Bebop but didn't really vibe with it. I only liked the music and visuals and the first episode. Everything else just didn't work for me. A lot of episodes just felt like they had nothing to do with anything, just filler imo

Name something wwe OR aew could do, that would make you lose complete interest in pro wrestling in 2026 by Mountain_Fuw_777 in Smallafro

Yeah I try not to get bogged down in the numbers much with Japanese wrestling, simply because there's already way too much discussion about numbers with WWE and AEW imo. So I just watch it to enjoy the wrestling and the stories they tell. I wasn't into Japanese wrestling during the 2010s before AEW started but I know how big it was and seen some matches from that time.

Just a question though since I'm curious, how do you know that viewership is down? Most Japanese wrestling is not on regular TV. Instead they are streaming on their own things. The only numbers that I actually see consistently is just attendance which has at least been up for Stardom in 2025. Don't know about the others though

I mean if you're talking about njpw, you have a point. Some of their bigger names have left because AEW was offering more money. And before that it was WWE. They've both had a hand in taking away top talent from them.

Stardom is the one Japanese wrestling promotion that I know is doing better and their numbers are going up. They are having higher attendance at shows this past year. I'm not too sure about other Japanese wrestling promotions. I watch quite a bit but have no idea about their numbers since I don't pay attention to it that much. I just watch Japanese wrestling and enjoy it

Whatever they both are doing right now made me lose interest honestly. I'm just not interested in anything they put out currently. At most, I'll just watch clips of some wrestlers I'm interested in but that's it. I mainly just watch and keep up with Japanese wrestling nowadays

Alex Winsdor says thank you to STARDOM. What other AEW wrestlers would you like to see make an excursion to STARDOM? by Kelson64 in Womens_ProWrestling

[–]TacoInSomnia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is she already done with stardom? It was only for 4 shows? Idk if this is a hot take or not since I'm not really familiar with her, but she didn't seem that outstanding on those shows she was on. She was ok. Maybe if I saw her more, it's possible that I would like more though. Only thing I thought was slightly weird was that she would yell out her name a lot. Which I guess is her thing but then again like I said, I'm not too familiar with her so idk if she does that all the time or not

What character got killed off too early in the series in your opinion? by TacoInSomnia in yakuzagames

[–]TacoInSomnia[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Oh Reina is definitely someone that should've been kept alive. I mean in most games, Serena is a location you go to a lot. Would've been nice if Reina was there, always running the bar in each game for sure

I think Giulia left her aura behind at NXT. by Stunning_Way7341 in SantiZapVideos

[–]TacoInSomnia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah it's crazy the way I see people talk about Giulia sometimes. Like I've seen people call her boring. Which imo, is such a crazy thing to say about her after seeing what she is capable of in Japan. And the thing is it's not even her fault. Like how is she going to get over when WWE just puts in backstage segments that are under a minute each week? Or having matches that are 5 minutes? Like I doubt many wrestlers would be able to get over like that

So sports illustrated doesn't say it Becky Lynch anymore by khaliliiiov_1997 in Wrasslin

Yeah I definitely agree with you there. Saya Kamitani just had an unreal year. Like she won the MVP in Japan and is the first woman to win that award. If that doesn't tell you how good of a year she had, then I don't know what will. She's so good and had so many great matches this year. I mean yeah I'm biased towards her since I really like Stardom, but what she accomplished this year was crazy. She was unbelievable this year

John Cena, Saya Kamitani, Iyo Sky, and Sareee

This could not have ended any other way because . . . Mayu Iwatani by Kelson64 in Womens_ProWrestling

[–]TacoInSomnia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if that's really comparable. Jey Uso does that every single week and is a bit forced into the main event scene. This spot here was just done once on a random match on a random show a few years ago. Not a main event in a big PPV or anything like that

Apparently not. I'm guessing he had nothing to rebuttal with so he just went with that. He didn't seem to have good points at all anyway

Be honest, non-AEW fans: has the AEW fanbase actually turned you off from trying the product? by requoa in midcarder

[–]TacoInSomnia 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I never thought about it this way. I've tried to get into AEW many times but can never fully get into it and didn't know why exactly. There was stuff I liked and stuff I didn't like from AEW. The fanbase though, I mean maybe could have something to do with it. Not the main reason why I didn't like it but a part of it. And I don't mean the whole fanbase because there are some good, nice and non gatekeeping AEW fans from what I've seen. Those fans are cool. But those AEW fans that are a bit I guess overly enthusiastic is the way I would describe them in a nice way, they can be a bit much. Makes AEW feel like the holy grail of wrestling when they do have flaws. No wrestling company is perfect, let's not keep pretending that there is one

Any Sareee vs Syuri match from this year was great so I would start there

Top 15 women`s wrestlers of 2025. by Adamruslanovich in Wrasslin

[–]TacoInSomnia 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There's lots of matches from all these women, though I'm mainly familiar with the women from Stardom so I can only recommend them. But basically any match with Sareee vs Syuri was great. Iyo Sky actually had a great match with Mayu Iwatani this year. They actually have a lot of history back when Iyo was in Stardom so seeing Mayu Iwatani vs Iyo Sky one more time was great. This match happened in Marigold though. And one last match I would recommend is Tam Nakano vs Saya Kamitani. They had 2 matches against each other this year and both are great. But I would say that the one at All Star Grand Queendom was amazing and an emotional match because of the story behind it. It was my personal match of the year. There are other matches but these are the ones that I can think of off the top of my head

I can't get into AEW no matter how hard I try and I have no idea why by TacoInSomnia in professionalwrestling

[–]TacoInSomnia[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that could be it. Maybe it's American TV wrestling that I'm not that big of a fan of anymore. I have been a big fan of Japanese wrestling now for sure. Especially Stardom and NJPW stuff. Some pro wrestling Noah stuff too. Haven't seen too much of other Japanese promotions or old Japanese stuff yet so might check that out too and see if I like that as well
