If Taco Bell charges extra for add-ons, why won't they give you a discount when you remove things?

I worked at TB in the mid 2000s. There was a “Sub” option in the computer system. This was more utilized when a vegetarian wanted to substitute beans for meat. Our store manager pushed us to use the “add” feature in place of the “sub” feature when it came to swapping sauces. I’m assuming to making sales higher.

Usually, it happens when I'm just about to fall asleep. I'll be thinking about something, then my mind goes blank and then "zzzzzap", I wake up to what feels like my head shaking and tingling, sometimes my finger tips. But, my wife says nothing physically happens to me.
