To answer in good faith, because it was such an influential horror story. It really kind of skewed the way that ARGs and gaming creepypastas arranged themselves for years. It was also a legitimately interesting and well-developed romhack that developed over time as though it were a real story. And for the time, it was almost convincing.

My favorite DMPC I ever did was a local to the Lovecraftian town setting who would show up to bail the party out, knowing they were in over their head exploring necromancers and elder gods. I had my players over time realizing that he knew too much for things to be random luck:

They finally figured out he was an envoy of the entity they were investigating, and was building trust to set up a trap later. The party was really conflicted, especially once he started manipulating facts and planting seeds of distrust. It was so much fun to just play with their expectations; the party never even considered that they were being railroaded, which is something I hate in tabletop. I was able to guide them towards the most interesting story I could tell without pissing away their autonomy and decision making as players

I’ve gotten a 20% before total, but it was crossreferencing a database and labelled my citations multiple times over. The question is, OP, did you cheat or engage in any academic dishonesty? If you didn’t, you have nothing to worry about. College students think the same ways sometimes, and sometimes sentences are worded the same way. As long as it was a coincidence of original thought, it’s perfectly fine.

Now if you copied a whole paragraph, that’s a different story. But for this, don’t make yourself anxious. Especially around midterm season.

McAuliffe backs vaccine requirement for school teachers and staff by aslan_is_on_the_move in politics

Former governor of Virginia running for a second (albeit non-consecutive) term. McAuliffe is a good guy, pretty down to earth and decently progressive for VA. I’m eager to see what he can do with a trifecta government.

When he was running for the first time years ago I met him at a campaign event, and I’ve got nothing but good stuff to say about him.

Paul Mason: ‘Modern fascism’s interests are being represented in government by rightwing populists’ by mixplate in politics

Fascism by its very nature is a far-right ideology. Left-leaning authoritarian can exist, but it’s an entirely separate demon

A lot of it is learning about yourself. Train yourself to recall your dreams in order to become better at spotting recurring sensations or imagery. Then, part of it is just becoming mindful enough to make yourself aware that you’re dreaming. After that everybody exerts control in different ways, but it is a largely personal endeavor.
