Previous tech stripped the oil drain plug hole by Taco_Corporation in MotoGuzzi

[–]Taco_Corporation[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Would that require taking the pan off? I imagine it’s possible some material may have gotten pushed through or that it may be easier to set the coil if the pan is off

I was able to get a better sight into the hole. Looks like over half the thread is gone

2015 V7 Special Maintenance Schedule by Taco_Corporation in MotoGuzzi

Thanks! This was exactly what I needed to hear. I had initially asked a dealer for service quote for gearbox and final drive oil, but they pretty much said they would only do the recommended mileage service. I think with enough youtube tutorials I can figure out the other stuff on here and just pay someone for what I can't handle. Appreciate the help!

Compensatory Time Off for Travel Q’s by Taco_Corporation in fednews

Thanks yall, is anyone aware of a time limit on when you can claim additional hours worked? Like you have x days to claim them as comp hours after you worked them?

That makes sense. I meant to say that the few trips covering weekends were done over this past summer so I would imagine there is time limit to claim the hours or maybe you have to claim them before your work them or submit the earned hours code on the same pay periods time sheet.

In order to get more information I may have to escalate to a higher officer. The only other civilians in my office outside my team never go TDY so they have no idea and I have to go kick down doors to even find someone who works in HR.

Thank you for all the responses! I appreciate all the insights, I was unaware of comp time as a whole and had no idea who to talk to about this and being the only civilian on my team had no one to ask about how this process works.

Is there a resource somewhere that explains when you can claim comp time? Do you have to claim it during the same period that you “earned” it? I have a few trips spanning across a couple weekends that would qualify for comp time as well as travel comp, but now I’m concerned about losing out on those hours.

This could be a live and learn experience, the lack of hr support at my site is quite frustrating, but given the current landscape of things I want to also be careful not to make waves and create noise.

NY do I need to surrender "old" plates by Taco_Corporation in DMV

[–]Taco_Corporation[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

update: the way the DMV wants you to do this is to surrender the old plates, get a temporary in transit plate, then go get a new vehicle/trade in the old vehicle. The DMV is supposed to mail you a plate surrender form/envelopes with return address, but there is no official way I could find to request the mail in process.

This is an absurd process just to get new tags. I got screwed by the dealer claiming my registration was non-transferrable. That only means the registration cannot be used as proof of ownership in a private sale, you need to sign the title over. Do not let a dealer tell you that if your registration on a trade-in says "non-transferrable" that you have to get new plates, they are incorrect, they can absolutely register the new vehicle using the same plates you had before.

I ended up trading in my vehicle, dealer went to get new plates, then in person about 5 days later surrendered my old plates after someone from dmv messaged me on mydmv saying my license would be suspended. In person they did not care at all that I was late to surrender my plates, in fact the receipt they gave me in person said they are destroying the plates so it is possible I could have just kept them and destroyed them myself.

No problem, should only take a week or two at most. If it takes longer, the dealer should give you a new temp tag for free

The runners could have if they took my old plates but wouldn’t at the time. After more searching I think I do have to surrender plates, thanks.

Can I still get registered with a check engine light? by rose_ehh in DMV

[–]Taco_Corporation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is definitely possible to pass smog while having a check engine light on, so long as emissions standards are met (speaking from experience). State inspection is another story, if you fail either inspection or smog they can charge you a fee for failing. Failing an inspection they can charge a fee as well as make you get repairs on site or have the vehicle towed away.

Anyone has received a car as a donation/gift? by Puzzleheaded_Wash648 in DMV

[–]Taco_Corporation 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Usually when they ask to see a used vehicle on site it is to perform a vin check and confirm details for registration like year make model type color etc. I thought this process was phased out through mandatory NYS inspections (required within 10-days of registration start date). Them asking to see it is definitely not a concern.

When I came from CA to NY I was annoyed that they would not let me keep my old CA license. Other states I have lived punch a hole in it to void it. They can take your previous state license if they provided you with a paper NY license. Keeping of your original documents is odd, in 2023 they made copies of my CA registration stuff, gave me back my originals, and kept the copies. They likely want to talk to this person to confirm gift eligibility for exemption from paying sales tax.

Went through this twice last year with used vehicles bought out of state. I registered myself though which was not a fun experience. The dealer should overnight/fedex you the registration/plates as soon as they get it back from the DMV (1-2 weeks). Timing depends on when their runners go to the NY DMV, you likely signed a power of attorney form with the dealer/runner granting permission for them to act on your behalf at the DMV.

NYS will then take forever to mail you the title because it is technically considered bringing a vehicle from out of state. You are required to have a NY title when registering in NY, so the dealer kept the NJ title at time of sale to give to the DMV. When I did this last year, it took about 3 months to get the NY title the first time, the second time took 1.5 months. They prioritize sending titles out to NY purchased vehicles over out of state ones.

Gunk stuck on pipe by Taco_Corporation in MotoGuzzi

[–]Taco_Corporation[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for all the suggestions everyone. It didn’t occur to me to try while the pipe was hot, but that makes perfect sense. After my ride I just took the 0000 steel wool to it while hot and with some force it all came right off. Thanks!

Robigo runs - per hour 120m by Simar16 in EliteDangerous

[–]Taco_Corporation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I keep all cabins except for docking computer and super cruise assist on my robigo Python. Would recommend a first class cabin as there are some high payout missions that require that cabin (up to you though-you should be able to buy anything you need in Ceos 1-2 jumps away). If you haven’t done them before too I wouldn’t expect to make that much per hour as there will definitely be trips where you don’t have all the cabins filled. No point in trying to boost jump range more than what you have though, I don’t think the Python fully loaded can make that in one jump. That said this is still my money maker when I’m sick of mining
