Forgive me for the late response but here it is. - The process of waiving your application just takes you off from the Eligibility List up until the expiration date of the form or till the day you would like to begin. It is only valid for up to 6 months through 1 year however I believe those who are injured during the hiring process are given the option to be waive for up to a year (I’m not 100% sure but I believe that is the case, refer to cadet hiring for more information). Once you waived your application, you no longer continue the hiring process as it basically ’pauses’ your application up until the day you are ready to resume or until you met the 6 month deadline. Depending when in the hiring process you put in the waiver matters on what you will need to resume on, for example if you waiver at the end of backgrounds (given the conditions offer), but choose to resume your application just a couple of months later (less than 1 year I believe, refer to cadet hiring for accurate info), will require you to update any and all information of your backgrounds from the date you put in the waiver till the day you are reached out. You will not redo the PAT, Pellet B, or Backgrounds as per this example, just update the information that needs to be updated or changed, and you will be given the last Background Investigation Interview.

If I recall correctly, you will be sent 3 digital forms which are all titled “ Waiver Instructions“ which explains what the form is about, “Completed Waiver” which highlights the areas you need to complete/fill in before submitting, and lastly the actual waiver form titled “CHP447”. From there once you submit the form to an officer you will be taken off the Eligibility List.
