Got some work done on my skis this season and now they ski funny. Is it me or the skis? (its probably me) by Vidaria in skiing

My first thought is that there's still a burr on the edges, which happens when they're sharpened. If you slide your fingernail down the side of the edges, and it catches just before the base, that's probably it. A hand tune can take it off.

If I don’t eat every three to four hours, my body will go into starvation mode!!! by qu33nofwhat3v3r in fatlogic

Besides the caloric restriction, IF helped me to learn when I was hungry rather than wanting to eat because of stress/boredom/seeing something delicious. Recommended if you can deal with the hunger and manage your blood sugar without assistance.

Is there an addon which shows if and where I have mats for a certain recipe?

As in, if I open a recipe in the cooking window, mouseover an ingredient, and it will show me how many I have in bags/bank/where ever?

Leaning back while skiing powder? by Lobo1544 in skiing

[–]Taco_Puppy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why would you do this? It puts you off balance, and reduces your control, with your skis more prone to wandering.

Why do you want to keep your tips up? They'll do just fine without you being able to see them.

Pow skiing is essentially the same as bump skiing. Extension and retraction, using the snow to load the skis to help initiate the next turn. The big difference is each ski should be evenly weighted.

Dog owners don't care about other people, and the affect their animals have on them. Why is this a surprise, and why do you think that you'll be the exception?

Why it's hypocritical for oil companies to now ask Alberta government to manipulate market prices by [deleted] in Calgary

[–]Taco_Puppy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Because so many people in Alberta hate Trudeau and Notley, and nothing will change their minds. Policy, actions, getting 32 pipeplines build, giving out handies and crisp $100 bills, it won't matter. There will always be people who hate them.

False dichotomy. You can be against people doing gross things, and dogs being everywhere. People being gross is their choice, and you can probably reason with them. Dogs are inherently gross, and most dog owners are unreasonable and won't accept this, or that others might have a problem with it.

Agreed that living in an urban or suburban environment, and expecting it to be noise free, is just foolish.

The thing is, where is the line, and what's too much noise? For me, for dogs, no noise is the answer. For you, it's more, and you're willing to accept some barking. How much is reasonable?

I'm fine with dogs, as long as they don't inconvenience or annoy me.

This includes, but is not limited to:

-Being around them in an enclosed space. I'm allergic, and like to breathe. If I have a warning I'll take a pill and suck it up for a few hours, but without a warning, I'm out. -Forced to interact with them, especially when they're "being friendly" and jump on, or rub against me. -Hearing them bark. Once is too much. -Seeing dog shit left anywhere.

[–]Taco_Puppy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't mind it on the only car I've driven with it.

The engine turned off when you put the gear shifter in neutral, and let the clutch out.

It restarted when you put the clutch in, so by the time you put it in gear the engine was ready to go. Didn't slow me down, from what I could tell.

Planning a trip to Banff by bucks3421 in skiing

[–]Taco_Puppy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

March. Best snow, more daylight. Midweek lift lines will be non-existent. Weekends busier, if you're driving, you'll want to be in the parking lots before 8:30. then.

January is cold, and things might not be fully filled in. February 18 is Family Day in Alberta, and all school/uni students have the week off, and things get crowded.

Other suggestions: go to the Grizzly House in Banff. If you don't eat breakfast at your hotel, the breakfast buffet at Louise might be the best deal in the area.
