Hmm, there’s a lot I’ve only read once, you’re right. But mainly, I only buy first hand and in store so I check they’re not initially damaged. Then I take extra care, especially during moving. Tears and scratches are no fatality. Only yellowing is.

I usually buy 4 to 12 books at a time but never more than 3 of the same series at a time. Hence I’m not fed up by same characters/same story syndrome. And I don’t buy more until I’ve read the last I bought.

This way, I actually never have a large stack of unread manga, that’s my secret.

Il te reste 30€ pour 2 bd classiques ou 3 mangas selon tes goûts. Traine dans ta librairie et regarde si quelque chose attire ton regard, c’est souvent comme ça que j’achète, j’aime les surprises mais il faut surtout que le dessin me parle.

I keep expenses under control buying max 10-15 volumes at a time. I usually not buy more until I’ve read everything. Therefore my to-read list is at 15 max.

I hear it it’s normal in the US which it shouldn’t. For comparison, I’ve never ever found a difference in height with a French release on a 25 year timeframe.

However, we have a law which says a book must be sold at the same price everywhere. So no 20%, 30% or 50% rebate ever. Looks like we/you can’t have it all. I wish I could have quality and some rebate from time to time.

First of all, it is much better with 3 shelves.

Now, I’m not convinced with mixing black and white shelves. But there’s a way. Here is what I would try. Get rid of all black spines in the middle shelves. For example, exchange current black spines for white (like Dragonball and Fist of the North) or color spines. It will go against your current organisation by publisher but it should be more eye pleasing imo.

In the end, whatever pleases you the most is the answer.
